145 so far. I've got 14 more to post - and I'm done researching now.

Found a great online resource -- only today. Too bad I didn't find it earlier. LOL.

"Why-Knee-Me" is #8 on the list. Yes I'm done.

Got other things to move on to do.

There may be more, but I've poured over the Lighthouse Friends list and spent too many hours researching possible names that fit our "One of these things IS just like the other" relationship puzzle.

Filling in another Michigan City light to the list -- this one the Breakwater light which isn't much of a light, but the CG says it is a light.

And I'll add another that we all know but have overlooked: NOBSKA!

Now I'm down to 11 more to post.

Of all the contiguous, continental US states with lighthouses on the Great Lakes, Atlantic, Pacific or Gulf Coasts, it appears there may only be one state not represented by at least one lighthouse on this list.

Can you name the state?

Although the Lightship Chesapeake is docked there today at least, so there's a partial connection.

Further research on the existing names on the list might reveal some other 'same-name' lighthouses.

For example:
Rappahannock Shoal Channel South Range Rear VA

Was their a 'Front Range' there?

I can't find anything on a front range. It is still an active light, Rosalie, do you have charts for this part of Chesapeake Bay? That would tell us what serves as the front range.
Update:
I found the chart http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/12225.shtml
there is a front range light, but...is it a lighthouse? It is LLNR 7290.

It just didn't seem right that there were none in Maryland. I got a great book this weekend "Lost Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay". I'll have to see if there are any more not on our list, but I concentrated on Maryland to begin with. We were including lost lighthouses weren't we?

Yes I do have charts of the Chesapeake. I didn't know what this was a list of - is it lights that are gone? If so Cedar Point is gone. There's nothing left of it except the cupola which is in the Pax River museum.

Kathleen - this is a list of lighthouses with names derived from Native American language words or tribe names.

Without researching it, I'd guess that "Hooper" doesn't fall into this category.
