Below is today's Light picture to be named.
Here’s a brief list of guidelines that will be used.
1. Every Thursday a new light will be presented, barring problems.
2. The light may be from anywhere in the world.
3. Request that we limit guesses to 1/person/day
4. A hint will be provided every day starting on the 2nd day.
5.I will keep/post the running scores if desired, scoring will be by points assigned for difficulty (1-5).
6. Post your guesses to this thread.
7. Your input with photos appreciated and acknowledged when used.
8. Since last weeks was a rather stiff stumper here’s an easier variation. Two photos below, both pretty easy, and you must get both correct for a total 3 points.

Photo #2 by Bill O’Brien (Oseabee)

Scores as of 8/15/01:
Derith - 10
Mombo - 8
Oseabee - 5
Ladybug - 4
Gebbyk - 4

Photo#1: ID of the light?

Photo#2: What is this ?(specifics required)

Hint 8/17:
Many
Others
Vacated
Every
Day

Hint 8/18: 1838, 1870, 1923, 1996, 1999

I will guess Cape Hatteras and the 2nd photo as the new base for the lighthouse after it's move?

Neither of you is correct. Remember that to be correct you must have both right, and I'm not giving partial credit!

How about the Nauset Beach Light in Cape Cod on the move for pic 1 and the original site of that tower in Chatham?

#1 - Looks like that might be the framework inside of Lady Liberty.

MOVED the hint could refer to the trip she made across the Atlantic from France

#2 - A terribly under exposed photo.

Nobody right yet. Remember no partial credit, to get the points you must have it ALL correct. (Bonus hint - there are two different lights involed with NTFG #7)

Ok, here is today's guess. I'm still leaning to Hatteras. Is the first picture the current Cape Hatteras Light and the second picture the location of the original (1803) Cape Hatteras Light?

Our guess for the first picture is Cape Hattaras during the move.
Second picture is the still visible base of the north tower at Chatham. In 1923 the north tower was moved to Nauset to replace the remaining tower of the original Three Sisters.

I'm with the Sue on #1, but have not a clue with #2. Can't wait 'til someone gets it correct.

Derith

PS Just found a Chatham sight...#2 is the Foundation for the North Tower..Abbott's you are right! But, I'm not the judge....George?

We have WINNERS !

Tom & Joyce are indeed correct. CONGRATULATIONS Both lights have been MOVED. The base is the original of the north tower of the Three Sisters which has become Nauset Light in its new location. The first pic is that of the ironwork underneath Cape Hatteras during its move! The 1st two dates given are the dates built, and the others are the dates moved, Hatteras in '99, and Nauset light in '23 & '96.

The scores as of this date now are:

Derith - 10
Mombo - 8
Oseabee - 5
Ladybug - 4
Gebbyk - 4
Tom & Joyce Abbot - 3

I really thought this would go the first day!
See y'all next thursday. Have any pics that might be perplexing, or that could be made perplexing?? Let me know and I'll sure use them!

ATTENTION ALL NTFG WANNABEES
Don't be put off just because the 'xperts' seem to get the answers first. Jump on it, make a few guesses, learn a few things as you go and TRUST ME I'll try to make a few EASY ones for those of us who haven't been to every lighthouse (YET !).
