Lighthouses Climbed, Part 1 Originally posted by Lorie Roe: John's posting of the lighthouse stairs got me to thinking of starting a list of lighthouses climbed. I'm sure there are some lights that quite a few of us have climbed and others that have been open for special occasions that not many people have climbed.
Start posting any lighthouses that you have personally climbed. Only one post per day. It doesn't matter from which state the lighthouse is located. This list might give us ideas of lights to visit that we can also climb.

Bald Head Island Lighthouse, North Carolina - up the rickety wood stairs with no banister in 1997. I enjoyed reading a story after our visit about several residents who took refuge in the lighthouse during a hurricane the following year. - Bob

I have only been up two...one has already been mentioned... Stonington, CTThe second is also a short light... Old Point Loma, CA I use to think it was the heights that bothered me but I now know that I am claustrophobic Sure love to look at them though.

Little River Lighthouse in Cutler, Maine I climbed the Little River Lighthouse on July 26, 2002, the day before the Federal Government turned over ownership of it to the American Lighthouse Foundation under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000, making it the first light in New England to be transferred under this act. My best, Paul Conlin Secretary, American Lighthouse Foundation
