I just got my latest issue of Yankee Magazine and they have a deal for all us Lighthouse Lovers.

They usually have a story about a special house for sale each issue. this issue it a 2 for 1 sale along with a whole 6/10 of an acre.

They are literally next door to Nauset Lighthouse. You get two homes both with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths with them close enough that you could convert them to one house .

If you keep the houses in the family long enough you will get a beach front home as the cliffs are still eroding, which of course is why these houses are next to Nauset instead of across the street from it.

As I said it's a bargain- only $749,000. i'm sure someone could get them for less.

They are located inside the National Seashore so there are very few pesky neighbors.

Maybe we should pool our pennies and make a bid.

Dennis

Needless to say this is a great summertime location but with the price of these houses, I would expect they are more likely old bungalows with no heat. I remember some of the houses on the street looking fairly nice. Were there pictures, Dennis? 3 bedrooms and 2 baths? Do they mention kitchen or living room? This is intriging, I'll have to get the magazine? "If I had a million $..." and if I don't win the HGTV dream house on the Chesapeake...nope, didn't win lotto today!

Bob,

The magazine states they are year round houses, but are in need of updating.

It notes that the houses themselves are not the main point- being in a naturally beaitiful setting within walking distance of miles of pristine beaches, not to mention the Lighthouse next door.

Of course there is the down side- lots of lighthouse Wackos year round and beachgoers in the summer.

Some pictures are included.

Is anyone from the CF going to step up to the plate and jump right on this deal? Wouldn't it be nice to be "house-poor"?

You can walk to the beaches but so can thousands of other people. The first thing you need is a sign every twenty feet, "Trespassers will be shot on site". Try to encourage the local tree surgeon to leave his woodchipper in your driveway on weekends. Put some fake blood in the chute. Have all your supplies delivered before Memorial Day Weekend so you don't have to fight the traffic and crowds in the stores. Now you can sit back and relax.

Buy a boat. They are much more affordable. It's like having a house on the water and you can go to places where there are very few people if you choose to do so.

All kidding aside, I would love to own a place like that but I would never be able to afford it. Besides that, I wouldn't enjoy myself with the crowds that invade the area in the summer months. That is why those who own property at the Cape enjoy the off-season much more than the summer.

Pennies Dennis? Well I've got enough of those to buy a few grains of sand, maybe.

Hey, Bob, when you win that million I get the first dance!

Mombo,

We've got 897 people registered here.

If we all put a "few" pennies into the pot we could buy this place.

The we could take turns using it. I've got dibs on the third week in July 2008.

Less than a thousand bucks a piece, and we'd each get to use it 1/2 day per year. Seems comparable to most time shares.
