North River, NC. More commonly known as the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo community center. Located across the road from Chicamacomico life saving station.

It's hard to see where the lighthouse was, but it has some really strange angles. now you have something to go back for Paul.

Wow looks like several of us have something to go back for. Joe and I have been to the Chicamacomico Life Saving Station twice. But never knew what was just across the street from it!

It is Pensacola, but I've seen these same guys one other place.

I know Pensacola because I volunteer there.

Just busting to ask questions...some of those pictures I know exactly what they are, but some others....

My very first lighthouse book had a picture similar to your next to last picture, except the waves were crashing against the cliffs. I have wanted to see this light ever since. Nancy and I tried, but got no closer than a campground on the shore. Is there any sign left of the original lighthouse? Did they show you were it was? After someone gets this one could you put in captions? I would love to know what the other buildings are. Thanks again Bob! You made my day.

The 1856 light was a Cape Cod with an integral tower, like Point Loma or Pinos. There is a drawing here.

Bob.... When I saw your first photo, I instantly thought South Florida, Biscayne Bay area. But I couldn't come up with the name! Went to the FLA web site looking for the name.... but it wasn't there! Next thought was well I must be wrong??? But I could swear that I remember it, think I even sent out postcards of this light in one of the Postcard Exchanges several years ago!

Now I know that I'm not loosing my mind after all !
