The ring around the top of the tower below the gallery is gray stone on little Sable and it is black on Currituck plus the brick have a much more faded look to them on Little Sable..

Is that a B&W of St. Augustine?

No it is a color photo of another lighthouse. The inside of which is black and white and a little rust. Here is a better pic of the rust.

The landings aren't lined up. Strange. No, I have no clue which lighthouse. I just know that I haven't been in it.

We haven't been inside it either..

This is the reason I picked this lighthouse. It is just so different inside. I will add that this lighthouse is open to the public. I've climbed it twice.

This is just a guess, I can't find any interior pictures, and I haven't been inside. Cape Lookout. The stairs are old and need work, its a large diameter conical lighthouse.

Cape Cod, Highland? The picture I found showed restored stairs, but very similar. Interior of Cape Cod is not painted though in this picture. Maybe the paint has been removed? I did a google search for images with the words lighthouse stairs - very cool pictures.

I will add that this lighthouse is kinda deceptive. The inside of the tower is much wider than one would think from looking at the outside.

btw, there are hundreds of pictures of lighthouse stairs on the internet.

I would say you may have gotten it with the Hunting Island stairs, Laura..

We haven't been there during the open hours so I haven't seen inside myself..

Laura you got it. Hunting island is a Iron tower with a brick interior. The walls are very thin and this allows a larger interior space then one would expect. The landings are not lined up one above the other or alternating between opposite sides like in most towers. There is also the remains of Morris Island's first order lens in the base of the tower.

Haven't been inside Hunting yet - next month!

Okay I need to apologize here. I got carried away with solving the puzzle. Eric, that was a good one. Learned something new. Can someone else take this one? I am leaving tonight to get the grandkids and take them to Put in Bay in Lake Erie to see some lighthouses, so I could put up a picture, but won't be able to put any additional ones up. Anyone?

Pigeon Point Lighthouse the 1st lighthouse I ever saw in person as a child..

I remembered the Blue and rust -Paul.

It is a beautiful setting, I was so glad that I made it back to the lighthouse in 2004 before Sue and I went to the Oakland Regional.. It had a big impact on me as a child and obviously ever since.
