Sturgeon Point - the angle of the tower seems to change just below the highest window. Like it would if the tower was added onto, but I can't see anything about that and and an old photo shows the same angle change. Curious.
I'll get one up this evening.

We have always loved to visit this light.. The shape of the tower is unique, I love the red shutters, also... Sue and I have been there at least 7 times over the years.. We always stop by on the way to or from the Alpena Lighthouse Festival.

Alcona Historical Society

The society has done a nice job of restoration of the lighthouse.. It is North of Tawas Light and South of Alpena light on Lake Huron just 4 miles North of Harrisville, MI..

I have been after HL to make a replica for years of Sturgeon Point Light..

Barnegat Lighthouse

Since we visited Barnegat after dark, a long long time ago, my best way of confirming it was to look at my HL collection. And in the case of Barnegat it had to be the OE revised lighthouse which is the only HL version with the circular windows at the top..

Having my whole collection on display has helped more than a couple of times when trying to figure out a mystery lighthouse that has been posted.

According to his Facebook post, Greg was in a hospital in Charlottesville NC yesterday.

He is riding Amtrack to NOLA and got served a dish with nuts in it. So they took him off the train and to the hospital.

By today he was expecting to be 'back on track' to NO.

Someone else should jump in here with a new lighthouse and Greg will catch up when he can.

Just until Greg gets back, what if we change the game just a little. I know I have several lighthouse pictures where I could not get very close and so those pictures can't be used for showing just a part of the lighthouse. I bet you have pictures like that too. You can really only identify the light by the profile, maybe a little color. Here's one to start with...

Now Greg, you still owe us a lighthouse. Get well and have fun.

Two questions...
Is it a wave swept tower?
Is it a US light?

Not supposed to be a wave swept light though it has been on occasion. It is a US light.

I will add a little more when I get home, but till then. This light while not all that hard to see probably has one of the lowest numbers of visitors of any US lighthouse. It's next door to a tourist destination, even if you are not a turtle.

The surface has a strange texture. Looks like some type of masonry, then parged or stuccoed, but in vertical rows??? No strength. Curious.

That's it! I arrived at the Cedar Point Amusement Park in October 2008 and found it closed. I told the security guard a sad song about "I've driven allll the way from Kansas City to see this lighthouse and I'll never be here again..." Good tale. He let me in with promises not to tell anyone I saw that he did so. It's a great lighthouse. The HL piece shows it well. The roller coaster is not right behind it but is close. Oh, by the way with good binoculars you can see Marblehead Lighthouse across the bay.

Your turn! Congratulations!

I'm trying to figure the 'order' of the lens. maybe a 4th order -- judging by the man behind the lens in the first picture?

The red thing could be a red panel so that those seeing the light from a specific direction see RED as a warning. Or it could be a cylinder of red so that everyone sees the light as red.

Obviously the lens does not rotate.

Pretty big body of water behind the light. So it's not a river light. Could be Great Lakes light.

Eric, you got it! It is East Quoddy.

I know that many of our forum members have been there. But I think that only a few have been inside.

This was going to be my next picture... which I felt would give it away!

And my final picture is this one.

Notice the man on the latter, he's puting on a new coat of paint. That's how I managed to get inside. The workers where there painting and they let me go to the top, for a small donation. Which I was glad to give.

Stephine,

It was your fourth pic the one that shows the internal bracing and the "pyramidal" shape of the tower that gave it to me. I once spent some time on the "Friends of Head Harbor's" Flicker photo stream.

It's a great place to waste a few minutes. They have done a good bit of work out there.

Laura, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. That dosen't happen often, but every now and then you get lucky and this time I did!

Paul, I'll take that as a great compliment coming from you! Thank You!

White Stairs is not your normal color.
Pensacola has black stairs.

I was being a bit facetious.

Here is a bit more of the light from the outside

So what we have here is a very plain lighthouse both inside and out. But I think the unpainted interior brick is beautiful in it's uncomplicated way.

Could this be Cape Florida? I've never been inside to know what color the stairs are, nor if the inside bricks have been painted or not. But the outside pic looks as though it could be. But then it also looks like Cape May from what I see in that pic.

Cape Florida Black again Stephanie.
I don't think Cape May too? I rememer Cape May being more elegant. But I can't find any interior photos?

I'm going to stick with my answer "Cape May" because here is the picture that I took last Sept.

Looks the same to me!
