Continued from here:
http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=000228
The Rules:
We're working with the years of important events in individual lighthouses' histories. One person will list a year, a lighthouse, and an event that took place in that year at that light. The next person has to find another light with a DIFFERENT event that happened the next year.
Once we run out of events going forward in time, we'll go back to my original event and go backwards. And so on and so forth, bouncing between 1716 and 2004/5.
The twists and rules:
-Why is "different" in caps? When you post an event, it cannot be the same thing as happened in the previous event. Example: My event is a lighthouse getting a new lens. The next person cannot make their event have to do with getting a lens in a light. This might get a bit confusing...go with your gut feeling.
-Your event MUST be in the next year in the direction of play. If the previous post was 1876, you must post an 1875 (for backwards in time) or 1877 (for forwards in time).
-All lights must be in the US.
-You must provide a link to a webpage with the fact you are presenting on it.
-One post per person per day.
We left off with 1975, so I will make a post for 1976 in another post to make it easier to find.

Okay, this is very strange. We have an event for 1984 and 1986 that are both the same. However, according to my copy of "America's Atlantic Coast Lighthouses", the correct year is 1984. I don't blame you, Joyce...without having seen the other page, I would have thought it was 1986.
We are back to 1986.

Oh, you got me there, Dave! Okay, here's another event... 1990: The USPS issues a series of 5 US Lighthouse Stamps http://www.maine.com/lights/press1.htm (The stamps are not the ones presented at the top, those are the 1995 Great Lakes Series, I couldn't find any good pictures of the '90 stamps with a quick Google.)

May 2002 - Hoosier Lighthousing Club holds its first work weekend at Old Michigan City Light. 25 people working for 2 days to help the MC Historical Society, caretakers of the light. The beginning of a wonderful association that has benefitted both the club and the Historical Society (and especially the Old Michigan City Light).

2004 Old Mackinac Point MI Lighthouse opens for tours. Hey! We made it! Now back to the beginning and let's go backwards in time from Greg's first post. Greg started with Sea Girt in 1896. So the next post should be 1895. Back to the future!
