I posted this at Lighthousing.net, and I figured I'd post it here also. Test your knowledge of the lights of the Gulf Of Mexico 1. Which gulf coast light was taller than the tower at Cape Hatteras (before it was destroyed *hint*)?
2. Up until 1858, what was the brightest Gulf Coast light?
3. What was the first light built on the Gulf Coast? (*hint* it was built before it was United States territory)
4. What was the brightest light in Texas?
5. What was the only Gulf light to be built using Skyscraper Technology?
6. Which Texas light has been replaced more than any other?
7. Which Louisiana light originally showed 3 lights, one from the lantern on top and two from parallel bay windows protruding from its sides?
8. Which skeletal tower was never fully constructed due to storms in the area?
9. Which skeletal tower was built using parts from the above answer?
10. Which Gulf light is the only Gulf iron tower to remain in it's original place?
11. Which Louisiana light caught on fire and was said to act "like a giant blowtorch"?
12. Which Florida light was replaced 4 times, with each tower being destroyed by a hurricane?
13. Which light replaced answer #12?
14. Which Georgia "range" light was built like a street lamp?
15. At which Louisiana light were the keepers poisoned by lead in there water supply? (*hint* this was the first tower to be coated in tar)

Zachary these are some hard questions! I first thought by reading the heading "I should do well on this one" but after reading them, I'm stumped.
But here are a few guesses.
#3 Pensacola
#8 Dog Island
#9 Crooked River / Carrabelle
#10 Sanibel
#12 Cape San Blas

Interesting info Zachary. Guess no one got any correct answers because you are the expert on the gulf lighthouses! (Or maybe because some of us were just too lazy to try to find the answers!)
