And we bring ourselves to yet another part. I think you all know what the game is about by now.

Here's part VI: http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=000246;p=1#000050

We're on Massachusetts.

Is that one really a lighthouse Sandy? I looked on the web for a photo of it and couldn't find one. Do you have one so we can see what it looks like?

Duxbury Pier...saw this one from America's pebble, Plymouth Rock. If you have ever seen the Rock, you'll know what the pebble means. eek

Sue,

Have to see if Stan kept photographs, but this is what I've written in my photo scrapbook (copy is from America's Atlantic Coast Lighthouses.) :

09/19/2004. CAPE COD CANAL BREAKWATER LIGHT, MA. (Photographed from Scusset Beach Campground, Sagamore, MA.) One of only three English-designed fiberglass towers on the Atlantic coast; the other two are Block Island, RI’s Great Salt Pond and MA’s Deer Island Lighthouse. Described as looking like an elongated dumbbell with a bulbous base, a slender cylindrical body, and an equally bulging top that houses equipment and supports a lantern that is roofed but not glass-enclosed.

Will post a picture if he can locate the photo in his computer.

Was able to locate picture shown here of Cape Cod Canal Breakwater Light:

If the "Remains of Deer Island Lighthouse" (one of the three of this type of light) counts, that's my listing for today. Somebody has already listed Deer Island, but I don't know if they saw the original tower that was torn down in 1982 or the replacement fiberglass tower that sits on the original cast-iron caisson. If I'm duplicating that listing, then I'll go with East Chop Lighthouse, Martha's Vineyard Island, MA. (I'll use the latter for tomorrow's listing if "remains" is accepted.

Gee Sandy, that sure does look like the current Deer Island light! I was the one who posted that one and unfortunately the original tower was long gone when I saw it (1999).

Thanks for posting the photo and information!

OK, so we count Cape Cod Breakwater and we also have East Chop counted. Since we're on the Vineyard I'll go with West Chop!

(For this purpose I'm going to count "remains" of a lighthouse only if there isn't a newer existing tower. How an individual chooses to count lighthouses for their personal list is, of course, stictly up to them. smile )

I'll be off line until next Sunday or Monday so do continue posting MA lighthouses and any others from previous states. I'll start another state when I return.

The one at the entrance to New Harbor a.k.a. the Great Salt Pond on Block Island was removed during the summer last year and was replaced with a smaller skeletal mini tower. It was one of those, "Now you see it, now you don't things." I was surprised to see it gone.

Oops sorry, forgot to check that one off. Not too many left in MA but that's it for me. Continue posting those that are left if you've seen them but in the meantime maybe we'll try returning to Texas again. smile

Including Warrior Rock I've got 12 counted for OR now JoAnn. How's that? smile

Don't know what's up with TX as we've only got one so far. Suppose we'd better move on. How about HL's favorite state for lighthouses, Florida? wink

Can't do any FL. The furthest south I've gone is GA, where I have seen my one and only "Deep South" (meaning not NC) light, which was also my first. Otherwise, I'm useless south of Ocracoke.
