Sorry Larry, that light was posted in Part III as Kullen (shown on the link provided as Kullen Light). So the K is still alive. In searching for the previous posting of this light I came across a post by John who started this game way back in February. On March 22nd he said: Congratulations to Derith, Sue, Bryan and Paul for keeping this thread going so long! Great job guys!
Little did we realize at that time how long it would continue! Last Friday on the boat trip Paul, Derith, Byran and I gathered for a photo. Hopefully it will appear here before too long. (At this point I can't even recall who took it!) Now that Larry has joined we will have to do it again! [This message has been edited by mombo (edited 10-10-2001).]

OK I think we need a ruling. Is it alright for us to ignore the descriptive part of lighthouse names such as Port, Point, Cape, etc.? John, since you started this you will have to decide.

And my ruling is...
Yes you can work off the T in Point or the S in Hatteras.

Ok, Bryan needed an "E" light so he used Porto Ercole as Ercole is the main word in the light although the full name of it is Porto Ercole. Up until now I don't believe we've done this, if so not often. Do we agree to do this? It will make tracking easier, ie. Ercole, Porto on my list and make a whole lot more lights available to post. I'm sure we have probably repeated some lights already too as some go by more than one name, say lighthouse name and location, depending on what link you find. An then there have been some variations in spelling for the same lights too. Some of these duplications are fairly easy to spot, some not but overall I'd say we've done pretty well in our attempts to find new lights, and new countries!

Sorry Mombo. I didn't understand you wanted a ruling in YOUR favor. Whatever powers your boat is fine with me. You guys have been running this thing long enough and you're all adults.

If my vote counts, I think we should be able to do exactly what Bryan did with Porto Ercole. Perhaps, we could post it as Ercole, Porto...Italy. Or some such way...there are lots out there we have not posted that begin with Cape, Point, etc. Derith Osmussaare II, Estonia http://worldlights.com/world/osmus.jpg

Whew. Sue, that saved me from finding another E. It is the second straight day I would have been stuck with the letter. It is getting harder and harder to find an E that hasn't been used these days. Offer Wadham IslandNewfoundland

John, I think I just stated the question poorly. Derith, women get 2 votes each since they had to wait longer for the privilege so I think the motion is carried! The leaning tower of Maspalomas (Canary Islands, Spain)[This message has been edited by mombo (edited 10-12-2001).]

Derith, when looking for an "E" lighthouse among my stash of lights I found this one which is the same light you last posted only here it's called Faro Les E`claireurs sobre el Canal Beagle: http://www.tierradelfuego.org.ar/ushuaia/Vfotover200.htm (Mentioned for those who use the "search" method for locating the lighthouses in order to avoid future duplication.) Danish leuchtturms? That's quite a twist. Obviously the photographer was German! This appears to be a very popular light! Hate to tell you Paul, but Derith posted that light in Part III but she spelled it wrong - Norre Lyng wig. She then posted it again in Part XVI as North Lyngvig Fyr! (I had this one saved to use when an "L" came up Lyngvig - no Norre, as that's how it's shown in two of the Danish sites. Whew, this is getting tough!) Didn't mean to pick on you Derith. Just pointing out the duplication. Plus the fact that I could very well have repeated that light again if I hadn't finally caught it with Paul's posting. We enjoy having fun and playing the game with you too. Hope you're having a fun and meaningful retreat! Oakville Light (Ontario, Canada)
