Below is today's Light picture to be named.
Here’s a brief list of guidelines that will be used.
1. Every Thursday a new light will be presented, barring problems.
2. The light may be from anywhere in the world.
3. Request that we limit guesses to 1/person/day
4. A hint will be provided every day starting on the 2nd day.
5.I will keep/post the running scores if desired, scoring will be by points assigned for difficulty (1-5).
6. Post your guesses to this thread.
7. This is a 5 !
HAVE FUN !

HINT 7/20: The light is in a time zone 10 hours different than Karachi.
HINT 7/21: Pic below

Hint 7/22: 1862
Hint 7/23 Pic below, Eastern time zone

George - you sure that isn't 9 time zones?

-5 Karachi from GMT
-4 1 zone
-3 2 zones
-2 3 zones
-1 4 zones
0 5 zones
+1 6 zones
+2 7 zones
+3 8 zones
+4 Eastern Time = 9 zones
+5 Central Time = 10 zones
+6 Mountain Time = 11 zones
+7 Pacific Time = 12 zones

John, Yep,according to my atlas, it is 10 zones, and remember you can go two directions from Karachi. Also, the Karachi time zone is somewhat 'staggered', and is two time zones from Moscow. (unless my atlas is out of sync, (lol))

I wasn't thinking Pacific Time Zone. 10 Hours from Karachi would make it the Central Time Zone - based on my calculations above.

Is is Eastern Time Zone? That's what I came up with which doesn't help me anyway if it is 'cuz I don't know what light it is. Air vent? I thought it was a porthole. It ain't a lightship is it?

Daylight savings time is not recognized in GMT (part of the reason to use GMT). You always remain in the same + or - time zone. There are countries other than the US that do use some form of daylight savings time, so you may have to adjust the local time after you take this into consideration. Karachi is in the -5 time zone and the US east coast is +5, as shown here . If you go east from Karachi to count your 10 hour difference, I believe you will be in the very western part of Canada (BC).

WE HAVE A WINNER !!!!! Navesink was first lit in 1862 and carries the numbers on the front of the light. My next hint was to be that you could see TWO other light towers from this one ( Navesink has a north & south tower and one can also see Sandy Hook!) Well done Nanna, The score now is:

mombo - 3
Derith - 5
Oseabee - 5
Nana - 5

Seeya all on Thursday 7/26 for the NTFG #4!!

It's kind of a Bill and Bob thing. You never know which one you are talking to.
