The last post of Part VIII was made by Paul. His lighthouse is Fair Isle, Shetlands, Scotland. By the way Paul, I had the opportunity to visit this light while on a Coast Guard LORAN Station visit in the late 70s. And yes, it's as cold as it looks! The link to the light's website is listed below.

That's why they raise all those long-haired sheep, Torchie. For the sweaters to keep them warm and to export for lots of money!

Europe Point (Gibraltar)

Gibraltar, a rocky area of 2.5 square miles, is located on a peninsula at the southern tip of Spain. The British, who have had possession since 1713, are reluctant to give it up although a U.N. resolution has delared them to comply by 1996.

(Maybe this info is out of date as I took it from a 1995 World Atlas?)

Noumea is actually Amedee which has already been posted. (Double fau pas here Bryan. We will have to take away your lighthousing priviledges for the next two weekends! )

Wondered if you were setting yourself up for another "Y" Paul. I didn't want to be the one to resort to the "F", lol!

Yes that is one interesting story! And it does sound very familiar, perhaps I read it before in "The Lighthouse Stevensons"?

Neat Paul! Found some old photos of the Hunstanton Lighthouse when it still had it's lantern room here. (#'s HUN038 & HUN040)
http://www.fenprint.com/repros/norfolk/hunstanton/loader.htm

Derith: I had a friend whose husband went to college with the King of Tonga or maybe it was his brother, the Prime Minister. Guess there wasn't any U. of Tonga!

Jolly? It looks like a coffin standing on end!

Paul, I think Saint Nicolas needs some numbers and hands and would do very well as a clock.

Sue, thanks so much for all the sites you locate. I really enjoyed those old photos of Hunstation, all of them.

Summer school begins today, gotta run.
