I'm having a real hard time blieving that my Legacy gets here before everyone elses. Mine came junk mail, not first class, so I just know others have received their copies. We have learned of the new introductions, and there is also a page about the Saint Augustine regional event and the Cape Canaveral/Ponce Inlet trip we took. What I found really interesting was what was stuffed into the envelope: the offer to receive your Legacy via email (in PDF format) instead of by US mail. You give up the slick magazine print version, but you get your Legacy at the start of the wave, not at the end. Be interesting to hear how people feel about the offer.

Perhaps the Legacy should be available in both formats. People receive the Legacy because they are HL Collectors. Obviously, collectors collect things. I'm willing to bet no one throws their past Legacy newsletters away. Some put them in the three-ring binder you received when you joined the Collector Society, while others put them elsewhere for storage.

I still think a hard copy is a must, but I do like the idea of having the Legacy available at the web site.

Bob, I don't believe that the Legacy will be available on the HL website. I think that you choose this option and they will e-mail you a PDF file of the Legacy. I think I still like the hard copy (its a collectors thing). I am curious though because they are sending a free gift when you sign up. Does anyone know what this gift is? wink

I received my Legacy yesterday (6/23). I still like receiving a hardcopy and I won't be signing up for the email version. I would consider it only if the gift was a hard copy of the Legacy.

I'm agreeing with still receiving the hard copy, and I do save them. By the way, I am in the picture with Kim at St. Augustine holding my AP of Cana Island that I won on Friday night. They left my name off.

I also save everyone of my hardcopies! Cherished items!

Joyce, I saw you in the photo, but didn't catch that your name wasn't mentioned.

They also published one of my photos this time in the Legacy . It's one I took of Nancy with our OBLHS Keeper at The Lighthouse Gallery in Nags Head on Easter weekend.

I failed to mention that the cover photo of Cape Lookout was provided by member Mike Kaiser (Kaiz). Another great cover shot.

I too received my Legacy yesterday. I'm not interested in giving up the mailed copy for an "E-version" in the future, but I do wonder what the premised gift for doing so will be. eek

Did notice that there will be several more Michigan LEs (Alpena & New Presque Isle) coming out .... will have to get those!! laugh laugh

I also would not give up my Lighthouse Legacy for
the E-mail version. And I do keep every copy. I
have been cleaning out paper-work from my office
today and my Lighthouse Legacys are staying right
where they are!!

So far my option to take the email version makes me the odd one out. I get so many newsletters with all of these lighthouse groups that I am a member of that I'm begining to need some major storage for all of these things. I usually get my Legacy so much later than everyone else that nothing much is a surprise after all of the good stuff is posted here on the forums so I barely read each issue.

I would never give up my hardcopy of the Legacy on a voluntary basis. It's something that I look forward to reading -- several times over. An E-mail version would be nice for people who want them. BUT NOT FOR ME.

Unfortunately, I have not yet received the latest copy.

We received ours and we haven't decided yet whether to go email or keep the Legacy in print. Too bad we can't do both so we could get the news faster via email but keep the magazine also. I was wondering if the photos could be downloaded and saved if we did the email version. We are in two group shots this issue and we would like to have copies of each.

Email will not be an option for me unless I can also get the hard copy. Saving the Legacy is almost as important as having the LE's.

The Legacy electronic version would be in PDF format. It would be the printed pages exactly as they look in printed form, except they would be on your screen. You could print out pages that would look just like the mailed version. They just would not be printed on slick paper and in book form.

If you think about it, this is an effort by HL to not only get you your Legacy earlier, but it would be a significant cost savings. Perhaps looking for ways to keep the cost of membership down? Would you be more interested if they offered a discount on membership for an electonic Legacy instead of a printed one?

After David's latest post, I just might have to modify my earlier statement: BUT NOT FOR ME.

A slight modification comes into play whenever $$$$$ signs are thrusted onto the scene. So my latest thoughts are:

MAYBE

I'm not a Legacy reciever, but it seems that they are collectables, almost like an LE. I do save all my lighthouse magazines and newsletters--I actually have saved every LH Depot catalog I have ever recieved--and I see that many others do too. It seems that most of our group here is opposed to the idea, and I would say, even as a nonsubscriber, that I agree. It just isn't the same having a PDF. However, perhaps others outside of our group do like the idea...perhaps a large amount. OK, calculations. Take 1 pool of Legacy subscribers...have a large portion go with an email format...have less Legacies printed...print Legacys become more valuable as collectables, with less being made. Perhaps this is a bit hopeful, but you could one day be able to get back all the money you would have saved switching to E-Legacy by selling your low-printing magazines!

Just a thought...the entire idea would balance on how many people went with each format. If I were a subscriber, though, I would stick with print. I just like the feeling of getting a lighthouse thing in the mail.

I joined Shirin and went e-mail also - one less thing to save and store. Free gift arrived today, a little light and a Crystal Christmas Ornament and hanger from the new JP Brown line put out by Y&A.
