Hi John,
All the blocks that are colorful are machine embroidered with approximately 15,000 stiches each and the embroidered lighthouse is about 4 inches square. The blocks that are more subtle are machine quilted with grey thread and include lighthouses such as Cape Hatteras, Fire Island, and Peggy's Cove, as well as a few other quilting surprises. And in keeping with the Harbour Lights tradition there are seahorses floating in and amongst the lights. This was definitely a labor of love!! Thanks for buying your ticket good luck in the raffle.

Kat

What an incredible quilt! I don't know squat about quilts, but that is amazing. I like the idea of the hidden stiching, too. smile

Thanks for the acknowledgment Seagirt....there is a total of 20 Great Lakes embroidered lighthouses on the quilt. My favorites are Split Rock, White Shoals, and Little Sable Point. I have the ability to make them larger than 4inches by 4 inches but they already take quite a lot of thread. Hope everyone who hasn't got there tickets stops by our table at the reunion to take a look at it. It was really quite fun to make. I have a little over 80 lighthouses that I can embroider and they all turn out gorgeous.

I can't believe all the beautiful items the clubs are bringing to the Reunion. What fun it will be to see all the "works of art" not to mention the chance to win something like this fabulous quilt.

Couldn't have said it better myself Judy... it is exciting to see all the beutiful items the clubs will be offering a chance to win. This Reunion is going to be great!
I am itching to start another lighthouse quilt too; and soon!! I think I would like to feature either the west coast or the atlantic coast lights next time around. But the lighthouses of the Great Lakes are just beautiful and I might just have to do another one of those. You will understand when you see the quilt at the reunion.

The quilt won't cost anything to ship as it will be going back to my house after the Reunion. Of course that's wishful thinking on my part. I've seen the quilt and it is beautiful.

Well all I can say is that this now resides in my house. I am thrilled beyond belief and the people that saw me jump up and down when they did the drawing will agree. Thanks Kat for all you beautiful work. I hope the raffle was successful. Everyone who has seen it since I left the Reunion has loved it. Thanks again.

I have put the quilt in its new home in our guest room, however, we have not yet painted and decorated that room yet, so I am a bit shy on showing photos. I'll see what type of results we get with our camera. I want to make sure the room does the quilt justice. Thanks again for offering the raffle. Signed, still in bliss laugh laugh

Eileen,

I am just green with envy. Your decorating plans sound like something I'd do--I won pinking shears at a raffle and then bought a sewing machine.

BTW, if you have difficulty decorating that room around that spectacular wall hanging, feel free to send it to me as I had plans already in motion when I heard that you (and not me) had won.

Sandy
