Hello, my name is Roxie, and I am President and Founder of the Firebirds Forever Car Club. We are a well respected and established auto enthusiast club. Our organization is planning a historic event for May 15, 2004 on Cape Cod, during Maritime week. The event is called Headlights for Lighthouses, it is a car cruise from Woods Hole to Provincetown. The goal of the drive is to visit many of the lighthouses on the Cape, and collect a plaque for each lighthouse. The final stop will have a special gift for everyone who visited all of the lighthouses and collected all of the plaques. The drive is open to all vehicles and everyone is invited. We will be awarding trophies, prizes and there will be giveaways. The vehicles in the drive will have their headlights on, to bring attention to the cruise. The proceeds of the event will go to the American Lighthouse Foundation. A similar event was held in New Jersey in 2002. They had a whopping 15,000 people attend, from 22 states and 2 foreign countries. If we could have 500 people participate, what a fun adventure this would be! Race Point lighthouse will be open for tours, for registered participants, and weather permitting Wood End lighthouse will also be open. There will be discounted lodging available as well. If you would like more details on this amazing event, please let me know.

Marblehead, Mass. Lighthouse, you will always have a very special place in our hearts. ....We've made the journey as far south as New Jersey, as far north as Canada. Over 100 lighthouses visited.... and so many more to go.

Welcome to the forums Roxie! This sounds like a great fund raiser and a great way to see many lights! Good luck with this project! We have seen a few lights in the Cape Cod area a couple of years ago. Would love to get back and see some more!

Sounds like fun and I'm always up for the middle of the week lighthouse events. Such a great reason to use up some of my vacation days! Thanks for keeping us posted.

Yes you are correct Mombo, this is surely an event for us to partake. One question, I think I am missing something. I can't find where to register. I went to the site, but didn't see any place to sign-up. Roxie and you help?

Hello, in response to the registration... I don't have the form completely done yet. I need to add the hotel info (Which I should have by Tues., I'm headed to the Cape on Sun.) My plan is to have it up before the end of next week! I'll post when it's up so you don't have to search for it! Thanks for asking.

Hey Roxie, ...I just looked at your site and you have the year of the event listed as 2004. You may want to change it to 2003 to avoid confusion.

Hi Bob, thanks, but the event is actually 2004. We are taking the whole year to advertise and prepare. We needed the year to also secure lodging and make sure that there is availabilty. Usually I'm not too great with dates, but this event needs the preparation!

By the way we have just added the Bass River Lighthouse to our Tour!!! laugh

Thanks for proofreading! smile

Well, I have some exciting news to update everyone on - Harbour Lights just announced that they are donating 7 full size (Cape Cod related - Monomoy, Highland - etc) Harbour Lights Lighthouses for the raffles at each of the 7 lighthouses on the tour. They have something else in the works which is VERY exciting - but I cannot announce it just yet! We are also putting together a HL Collector's society get together for around the same time. Harbour Lights has been very receptive to this event, and we are thrilled to have their support and energy! I will keep everyone posted on the latest developments! ....oh and have I mentioned that the registrations have started coming in.... smile
