Hi All,
Harbour Lights has graciously allowed us to sell a limited number of the new, just released Cedar Island Lighthouse Order Info . The replica depicts the newly restored oil house(May 2004), and some milk crates by a window where the Allen Brothers ate egg salad sanwiches provided by their Grandmother (the Lighthouse Keeper's Wife.) All profits from the sale will go towards the restoration of the Cedar Island Lighthouse. The Long Island Chapter will have this available in coordination with the first Long Island Lighthouse Challenge - May 14 &15, 2005 . Bill Younger will be attending the event, and will be signing the Harbour Light Cedar Island's at the lighthouse at Cedar Point Park. We will affix a commerative label to the bottom of the sculpture, and include a special Long Island Lighthouse Challenge souvenir.

Hopefully you can make the Challege, and have it signed in person by Bill Younger, otherwise we'll be happy to ship it to you after the event.

Last Friday Harbour Lights Cedar Island visited Cedar Island LH in Easthampton. I took the trek out to the LH in 20 mile per hour headwinds to take some 'Mr Brady' photos. The wind chill was harsh on the way out and back but I didn't notice being cold while at the light.
This morning I pulled out my HL Cedar Island to look for the seahorse. I recently bought a magnifying glass to view some of the details on my collection but have yet to use it. So after finding my cheater, I pickup the piece and it's right in front of my nose , the first place I look!(w/o using the 'MG') :rolleyes:
I thought that was pretty hysterical!
So for the record,
those who don't want to know stop reading
it's on the beach, next to some green brush on the water side directly down from the black double doors of the lighthouse. \

Memories of Cedar Point...

I didn't stop there last year, but I've stopped by a few other times in past years. We were in Sag Harbor for dinner at the El Cappuccino last July 4th weekend, but we left "It's Only Money" at Montauk. They had a wonderful fireworks display just as we were leaving the restaurant.

I did enjoy taking our dinghy out there a few times and spending the afternoon on the beach. We were the only ones there. We also took the dingy over to Coceles Harbor and brought the boat over after. Dined at the Rams Head Inn and had a delightful dinner. There are certainly a lot of great places to visit by boat on Long Island.

It's a little early in the season to be heading across the sound to LI in the middle of May. Usually I put the boat in the water just around that time. We usually do a couple of shakedown cruises in Narragansett Bay before we head out across the really cold water to the islands.

The weather that time of the year can be odd. In the upper bay you are in shorts and t-shirts. Halfway down the bay you put on a sweatshirt. When you reach the ocean, you wish you had your winter jacket on.

Boating is great when it's warm. It's not so great when it's cold. I'm getting wiser in my old age.

THANKS BOB! Cedar Island is a great cause to support. The only disappointment is that I will have to wait until I get back in town to see my new piece.

I just opened my Cedar Island piece that came from Bob Scroope for the Cedar Island fundraiser. I love this piece. John and I have some fun memories with Ken & Bryan getting to see this lighthouse upclose.

Now here is my question: my piece is signed B. Younger "04" instead of "05". Was this piece originally going to be released in "04" or was it just a slip up on Bill's part?

Well I can't answer your question but you did answer one I sent to Bob- I guess my Cedar Island isn't as uniuqe as I hoped it was.

I thought maybe I had a valuable variation. It now looks like it's not so rare.

I guess Bill slipped on a few when he presigned some. All the Cedar Islands arrived at Harbour Lights in late Feb/Early March, at which time Bill signed a few for you early buyers. I didn't notice any with the 04when I was attaching the "The Long Island Challenge label" but the random variable adds a little intrigue to your Cedar Island. I have your numbers so I keep track of your BY signature variables. (lol)

Bobo received his on Monday. Ruthie and AnnMarie's went in mail this morning. Mike Seewald(LighthouseDude) picked up his three yesterday as did Brian with his two.
Cedar Islands still avaiable, if your going to pick yours up at the Challenge, it would be a good idea to reserve it now.
