After reading this post (thanks to Eric and the TBHLCC!) , I thought maybe we can help out with a prism sponsored by the Wackos. We already have ten people so far at $10 a head, so our goal is to reach 100 wackos total.
I have already started a worksheet to keep track of those interested, each person will keep there number and we we reach the goal, we will draw a number to see who gets the engraved prism!!
Eric, I hope you don't mind that I used the picture.

I will pull the funds together from everyone as we get close to 100 Wackos, I have a paypal acct that you can use as the time approches.

I'm a little confused. Are we going to do a collective prism engraved with "Harbour Lights Collector Forums", or are we holding a drawing, and the winner gets their name engraved on the prism? I personally don't want to put my money in if it's the latter...your wording was a little confusing, so I wanted to double check. Or is the winner the one who gets to go to the ceremony?

Don't think Jim changed the intent at all. Paying for the prism would be done as a collective group of lighthouse enthusiasts. His drawing addition would be for who gets custody of the second prisim that is given to the donor.

Another option would be to put it into someplace that it could be displayed for many to see. Perhaps HL's home office or a museum to illustrate what a group of people could do to help lighthouse preservation.

Count me in as #11, #12, & #13 -- $30 if that's allowed.

And I'll liven up the thing. I'll donate a $100 gift certificate to www.LighthouseStickers.com and someone else can keep track of the entrants and do the drawing.

Your odds of winning will be 1 in 97 (I'm not eligible) if we get a total of $1,000 for the Point Sur prism project.

The winner of the drawing would get the prism, but I like Dave's idea, too. Maybe HL will give us a light to give away if they are the keeper of the prism!

Also everyone should note that the engraved prism comes with a stand that is made from a piece of Redwood, which was salvaged from the station during the ongoing restoration.

Okay, I forgot there were two prisms. That would be neat, to have a drawing...like owning the ultimate wacko badge!

If we were to donate it somewhere, then perhaps the ALF Lighthouse History Museum would like it. With the ALF's preservation-oriented goal, seeing how a group like us banded together to help a lighthouse in need!

Thanks to all for your support of Jim's idea. This is a wonderful way for a large group of people to come together to help support preservation. By working as a group we will leverage our donation and make a very generous gift to Pt. Sur. Similar to your purchase of a Wacko Badge or pin to support this year's light, Esopus Meadows.

So far there are 39 people who have pledged (there are a couple "off line" pledges and I have reserved my usual number 100). When we get close to having enough pledges Jim will post instructions on how he will be collecting the funds.

Put me down for a number somewhere in there. I like the original idea of one winner of the prism. Let the winner decide where it should be displayed. We each have a favorite place or cause, and the chances of getting 100 wacko's to agree to anything is pretty slim.

I'm in favor of the second prism going to one person who will choose what to do with it as they see fit. This is how it was stated in the original post. I don't think we should change things in mid-stream

Secondly, some people are concerned about what if we there is $1000 raised before we get to the magic number of 100 pledgers- this is not a problem. Point Sur will acept more than $1000 as a donation for a prism.

The minimum is $1000. We can raise more than that and all will be gratefully accepted. now, if we could get to $2000 then we'd have the problem of deciding what to do with two prisms.

Such a problem to have.
