smile Graphic Artist, Alan Claude Donates Lighthouse Prints for Raffle cool

July 16, 2010

For the third year in a row, award-winning graphic artist Alan Claude from Farmingdale, Maine, has generously donated one of his stunning Grand View (36" X 53") lighthouse prints for a raffle with proceeds benefiting the Maine Lighthouse Museum and the American Lighthouse Foundation. Although the raffle winner may select a Grand View-size print featuring any of the lighthouses in Claude's collection, the new images on display at the Maine Lighthouse Museum and at the American Lighthouse Foundation are Midcoast favorites: Curtis Island Lighthouse and Owls Head Lighthouse. There are 19 posters to choose from. Images maybe seen at http://www.alanclaude.com

With Camden Harbor's sentinel, the Curtis Island Lighthouse, Claude has managed to capture the extraordinary beauty of this icon, located in what is indisputably one of the most picturesque harbors in Maine. Many visitors to the Midcoast area will recognize the print from the cover of this year's Discovery Coast Magazine, the official visitors' guide for the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Owls Head Lighthouse print pays tribute to the tiny, beloved tower, perched 100 feet above sea level, which has guided ships to safe harbor since 1825.

"The striking architecture and dramatic history of lighthouses are understandably inspirational. We are grateful to artists, like Alan Claude, who have supported organizations that work to preserve the buildings, artifacts, and stories that are muses for so many people," said Dot Black, Director of the Maine Lighthouse Museum.

"Mr. Claude's artistic talents and passion for lighthouses provides people with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy views of some of Maine's notable beacons all year long in their homes through his stunning renditions, while helping to save our coastal lights and the history associated with them, for the future," says Bob Trapani, Jr., Executive Director of the American Lighthouse Foundation. There are also 2nd & 3rd place prizes - 18" x 24" Offset Lithograph Print Signed by the Artist ($75 value).
