Desert Lightkeepers and St George Reef Lighthouse have joined forces to raise money for the light. We will be kicking off an opportunity drawing the piece of Lantern Room Glass pictured below. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity! Tickets will be $5.00 each and 6 for $25.00. ALL monies raised will benefit the Light. More details to follow shortly.

Here is a letter I recd from Bill and Betty Barton with St George Reef Lighthouse

Dear Jim,
We wanted to bring you up to date on things with the lighthouse, etc. A lot has been accomplished lately. Got some of the new stainless steel railings up, the engine hatch cover has been weather proofed and also believe it or not, got one of the big original power plants to run. One of the main doors to the LH has been repaired properly. AND, the bathroom is working above the galley and the lower bathroom also. They have transferred water from one system into another so we have water to run the bathrooms and for cleaning up purposes. How about that !!! ?
Also, wanted to tell you that Guy Towers sustained a fall out on the steps while carrying a heavy piece of metal up the stairs inside the LH and though he saw stars, he was able to continue on with the project. However, he developed severe headaches soon after and as he had an old neck injury he thought that was the problem. X-rays showed no neck problems acute. He went on in a week or so to develop a drag of his left leg and some left-sided weakness. He went in again and they did a CT scan of the head. Well, they took one look at it in Crescent City and sent him to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka. He had a huge bleed.
Boy, God was sure with him, he should have been a coma case. But the injury of that fall and blow to the head started the bleed. The blood collected in an old brain surgery curved out area of the brain from the early 80's and when that filled it started to spread and caused the weakness, etc. He had to have brain surgery to remove the blood and clotted area. At any rate, he is home and doing fairly well.
We hope this finds you and yours well. Everything is going pretty good here. Still working on the glass/wood and as the History Channel did another time on the lighthouses, we again have inquires about the glass/wood, etc. So, Bill is again busy.
