This weekend 30 Mile Point (HL 184) celebrated their 125th Anniversary. We left our house around 11:00 this morning in a rain shower. The closer we got to the light (it is approximately 55 miles from home) the rain seemed to lighten up. It is a beautiful lighthouse! We toured the grounds and the inside of the keepers quarters. They weren't letting any one climb the tower because of the wet (too slippery for that # of people), but the grounds are beautiful.

On the way home we drove by Braddocks Bay Light (which is now a private home). Then it was on to our home light--Charlotte. This was the first time we have been there when the tower was open...42 steps up and then a ten step ladder to reach the lantern room. They have a 4th order fresnel on display.

All in all--it was a great day despite the on and off rain showers.

HAPPY 125 YEARS 30 MILE POINT

Happy Birthday to 30 Mile Point. Thanks Mike & Patty for posting a picture. Terry and I have never been to that lighthouse. I bet you guys also went by Schallers for a burger.

Thanks for the information...I am looking forward to seeing 30 Mile Point on my trip to the Rochester area next month. It is one of my favorite Harbour Lights pieces and I think the Mark Sherman picture of the light is one of his best.

Thanks for the picture. Wow I was at Charlotte on Sunday also. It rained all
the way there, just as we finally found it
(oh my that was not easy...) the sun came
out. Went up to the top and had a real
nice talk with guide. Oh by the way Doc77
I got so lost that if you need to know where
anything in Rochester or the sounding areas are, just e-mail me...!!! But it was well worth it. I didn't make it to 30 Mile or
Braddock. Was too late getting lost. Next
trip..

Glad you could make it Patty & Mike. Nice picture, thanks! Did they have a birthday cake?

Lonnie: I have pictures of Braddock Point and Charlotte-Genesee here taken a year ago last April if you'd like to look: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=39476&a=6991808

Sheryl: Do you have "A Traveler's Guide to 100 Great Lakes Lighthouses" by Penrose? It will get you to the lights without getting lost!
