Inquiring minds want to know...
Scituate comes with a blue rail or a black rail. Which one is more accurate? Which one do you prefer?

Mine has a black rail and That's the only color I can remember seeing, although I haven't ween more than 12 to 15 of them. Maybe this is a start to what your looking for.

Hi Ken,
My Scituate is the first version with the light blue coloring and molded railing. I would have prefered the metal, black railing version, but my wife gave me the piece as a gift, so I didn't sweat it. I think the black metal railing version is a better looking piece however.

I like the blue railing version -- although the photo on the front of the latest LH Depot Catalog shows the railing is really 3 levels of wire that connect the uprights around the walkway.
That's a great winter shot on the cover by Michelle Moran. Usually you see photos of Scituate with all kinds of cars parked around them. This one there's not a car in sight.
The change was made on Scituate (SIT-chew-it) when production was shifted from Malaysia to China. Unbeknownst to HL, the Chinese facility made the change, apparently because it was easier to produce. I don't recall the exact numbers, but the molded blue railing is the more common one.

I have and prefer the blue railing, matches the lantern room and makes for a more attractive piece.

Received my Scituate last Spring as an Easter gift from my husband who ordered it from a out-of-state dealer. Now he doesn't know black from blue railing and doesn't ask. I was holding my breath when I opened it as I definitely wanted the blue railing. It is a much more attractive HL, all soft blues & muted colors. Yes, it was the blue railing.

This HL is not in my curio. So I can't discuss the color of the railing..But, I agree with John, the photo on the LH Depot catalogue is a stunning one. Derith

I like the black, but that is what I have. The number on my piece is 6693.. Rusty P.S. That is a great picture on Lighthouse Depot magazine.

I have the blue rail. Usually I like the pewter rails because they tend to provide a finer level of detail, but on Scituate Light I prefer the molded on blue rail.

I own and prefer the black pewter railing because it lends the appearance of more detail and greater realism, imo. Those are two qualities I always seek out and the very two that lead me to Harbour Lights in the first place. That said, I think the blue rails make for a "prettier" piece, but my criteria stated above take precedence for me.

I have the blue railing and prefer that simply because of how it looks. I agree with all of you that the Lighthouse Depot photo is a stunner! Makes it look much more like my idea of what a lighthouse should look like without all the cars around!
Thanks John, for the correct pronunciation! And thanks to Paul for the great photos!
