For those of you on the list for the postcard mailed in envelope, I sent some of mine out today. The balance will go out tomorrow or Saturday, so they should be arriving soon.

I have been busy today and sent out both groups of post cards for envelope and non-envelope. My son is attending college in Williamsburg, VA. I had to send him on a post card mission to locate me 50 post cards. I appologize if any of you already have similar post cards. I was happy he was able to send me what he could find.

All of ours for the envelopes also went out in today's mail. Ours were from our West Coast trip. For those who were in both exchanges, tried to send different ones.

I got two cards from Lorie today. One for each exchange- this one was a postcard of the Outer Banks Lights.

Also got some very nice cards from Patty & Mike Kaiz. Thanks.

Mine will go out soon. I promise.

When Lorie's Cape Henry card arrived, I just sat down and had a memory review. This was one of the first lights I climbed after beginning to collect HL. Never have I been good with heights and you all know that this light is not that tall. But, while I was inside, a family adopted me for the decent. They allowed me to come down so that a family member was in front of me and one behind me, in case I faltered. Thank goodness, my fortitude has improved since then. Thanks Lori for a great card and memory.

Yesterday we received Lorie's from the Outer Banks reminding us of our trip a couple of years ago and Todd's with a "great winter shot" of St. Joe Pier Lights. Not that we really need to be reminded what winter is all about. Schools (and work for Patty)have been closed for the last two days. Spring can't come too soon. Todd for the next exchange, please no snow or ice!

Well, I received Gail's interesting card today. Another card from a light not as well known, Crooked River. Gail also included an article from the Florida Lighthouse Association newsletter giving the history of this light. Thanks, Gail, for helping us learn a little more lighthouse history thru our post card exchange.

Dave

forgot to mention the nice poem on the back of the envelope!

I haven't forgot about everyone.... and I'm not waiting for everyone to send their's to me so I can have some to send out....
I just got my order in from Diane Allmen's Postcard News & Sales in Cohoctah, MI and I'm sending them out first thing tomorrow. I just hope they are worth the wait. Mine are all different and had a tough time deciding which ones to send to who...

Got a really neat card today from Medicman - Sitka, Alaska - just a little way off the beaten path! This is one most of us will never get to see in person, and is what makes these exchanges so great!

Just got mine in the mail from Ron Foster. I guess he couldn't make up his mind on which to send.... New London or Point Judith... so he sent BOTH!!! Thanks Ron. It makes me wish we could keep on going up the coast when we go to Baltimore in October.

I received Derith's postcard in the mail today of Cape St. George, FL. She included an interesting fact sheet about the lighthouse. It is fun to receive cards from places I might never see.

A couple of weeks ago I also received 2 nice cards from Ron. In the summer of 1999, I took the ferry from L.I. to New London, CT. I was able to spend some time staying in Mystic. That was a beautiful area to visit. It really makes my day receiving all the fun postcards. Thanks to all of you who have sent cards. I look forward to Baltimore.

I also received Gail's card of Alaska. I am taking a cruise there and hope maybe I can see some lighthouses from the ship.

I received 2 more great cards from the Toth's and Judy (Sunshine). Judy...I enjoy your note cards as much as the postcard. I still have my Christmas card on top of my computer. I'll add your new card beside it. You are very talented at making memorable cards. Thanks to both of you!

Kind of tardy posting this, but I did get a great envelope full of things from Darlene. Card of Mukilteo, along with a nice history brochure and a chance to purchase a tile in the new interpretive center. Thanks for adding these to my collection, Darlene. Should be up your way September of next year - this just makes the wait a little more difficult.

I am actually in possession of post cards and am working on getting them out in the next week or so! (yes I know, finallly.)

Finally got our cards in the mail today. Not many lighthouses in north Texas and even fewer lighthouse postcards. So, we took advantage of a business trip and visited some Georgia lighthouses.

We have enjoyed all the cards received so far. Just sorry it's almost over.

Hi Tom & Joyce,

I recevied your post card in the mail today of St. Simons. It has been fun getting the cards but also the extra information. Thanks for the little cards too! I am going to use one for a book mark. Even though this group is coming to an end, I am gearing up for round 5 & 6.

No way you can be last. I still have a stack of cards and addressed envelopes sitting here. I will eventually mail them. (at least I intend to)

John,

This would give you something to do sitting in first class on your way to Chicago. Just hope the writing doesn't get too blurred as the trip progresses.

I got Golden Boys post card today, in good shape. Ponce Inlet.

Now the question is, will I get my own cards into the mail under the deadline? They are pretty much ready to go, so they should be. Sounds like we will have a last minute rush to meet the filing deadline! (I wonder what the sanctions are if they don't get sent on time. Lose 100 posts?)

Sorry for being so late, but I just got my cards out right at the deadline. They should all be arriving in the next day or two. They may be the last out, but I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised with the light I chose. Took me awhile to find this particular light on a postcard, didn't think that there were any in existance...but I found some!

Rod, not to worry. After you and I mailed our cards I still show 3 people still to go. Mine went into the mail at 6:00 PM tonight. Didn't want the grief from Golden Boy and LI Bob for missing the cut off.

Here we are past the deadline, hoping that everyone will forgive our tardiness in sending our cards out On two separate occasions, in March and June, Roy and I were planning a quick trip to Florida to see a few lighthouses and visit my sister. Both times we were unsuccessful. Thanks to some very good friends of ours we now have several postcards to send out. I only hope that some day Roy and I will be able to visit each and everyone of them. Thank you to everyone for your patients with us.

Roy & Carolyn,

With the 100 post penalty for late mailing you guys are going to have to re-start the whole wacko status attainment thing! But, we will still look forward to your card.

Rod most definitely came up with a most unique card. A real prize to add to the collection!

By the way, is that our Paul Brady listed as the photographer in this 1885 photo???

LOL, Dave. Believe it or not, Derek A. Little is a real person, not Paul's alias. Not for sure where these really came from, but I stumbled across them at the Steamship William G. Mather Museum in downtown Cleveland. The young attendant asked me if I "liked lighthouses" when I bought 30 of them (understatement of the year). I didn't even attempt to explain.

Mo will probably freak when their postcard arrives. I bet HL would have loved to pick up a few thousand to insert into the upcoming shipments. It was kinda difficult for them to find historic photos and info to model the sculpture from, and I wasn't any help...now I stumble across this brand new postcard with a great photo of it! Go figure. Too bad I didn't find them any earlier.
