Your help is needed in another postcard project. The school where I teach at celebrates 100's day each school year. For those of you wondering just what 100's day is; it is a celebration of the 100th day of school for the current year.

Many teachers especially the lower elementary plan special projects revolving around the number 100. This is where you can help. One second grade class would like to receive 100 postcards from around the country by February 8, 2001. If you would be so kind as to send a postcard of a lighthouse near where you live or if a lighthouse is not possible (land locked states)a postcard from your state would be welcomed.

Please send your postcards to:

Mrs. Allen's Class
Parma Elementary
P.O. Box 249
Parma, Michigan 49269

Thank you for taking the time to read this forum entry and responding.

Harbor Beacons - Mrs. Allen's class will be receiving some CT lighthouse post cards. Thanks for letting us know, it is always a joy to help spark some interest in our lighthouses. These children are the next keepers.

Wow! I can remember trying to find 100 items for my kids to take to school in first grade (they had the same teacher) for 100 day! My oldest took 100 pieces of football shaped cereal, my youngest took 100 paper clips. Postcards sound like a lot more fun! No temptation to eat them either!(like happened with the cereal).

Hello Harbor Beacons,

I transfered this out of the General Forum and into this Post Card Forum.

One Ponce Inlet Post Card is on its way to Mrs. Allen's class. Since so many postcards will be about lighthouses, Mrs. Allen might want to contact Harbour Lights for educational information. I believe they help educators by providing lighthouse material for classrooms. I don't know the exact details, I just remember Bill Younger mentioning it at the Tampa Bay Club.

Thank you Joanne for moving this into the Postcard Forum. I stayed several hours after school last night and by the time I logged in to the Collector Forums I didn't even see the lighthouse Postcard Forum.

Thank you for the response so far. I appreciate your willingness to help!

Thank you for the response so far! I sorted the school mail yesterday and delivered several postcards from HL Collectors to Mrs. Allen's classroom. They were thrilled to received them. I will keep you posted.

A post card of Mukilteo Lighthouse from Washington state is on it's way to Mrs. Allen's Class. I too am a teacher and we celebrate 100th day as well.

Joanne, although I've just joined the forum and it's already the deadline for the 100th day, I'll send Mrs. Allen's Class a cool Lighthouse Kitty Surprise, including some postcards. What a great idea! the kids will love me -- I'm a real, live kitty mascot for the American Lighthouse Foundation. Meow!

A BIG thank you to all who sent postcards. I don't know how many Mrs. Allen's class ended up with but I know they reached their goal of 100. Unfortunately I've been sick all week so I miss all the fun on 100's Day.

Thanks again HL Collectors for all your help!
