I am researching facts on Shinnecock LH and just got a copy of the Lighthouse Society's Keepers Log Spring 92 issue which has an article about it. In the back, I read about two LHs that were in jeopardy because of abandonement and/or disrepair, and the organizations that were trying to save them. I happy to report that both of them - Fire Island and Cape Florida are alive and well thanks to their adopting organizations. I've had the pleasure of visiting both in the past year, and although I knew of their restorations, until I read these articles from 9 years before, I didn't realize how seriously in jeopardy they were. Thanks to these fine organizations(individuals), and the many more around the US and the world that are saving our Historical Lighthouses A special thanks to all our collectors, Forum members, and Harbour Lights who support these efforts with their time, material, and treasures.
