This was posted in the ALF email news alert... New Lighthouse Postage Stamps To Be Issued
The U. S. Postal Service will soon issue a set of new lighthouse postage stamps featuring lighthouses of the Pacific. The lighthouses that will be featured are: Diamond Head Light, Hawaii; Five Finger Lighthouse, Alaska; Grays Harbor Light, Washington; Umpqua River Lighthouse, Oregon; and St. George Reef Light, California. The date and location of the first day of issue ceremony for the release of the stamps has yet to be determined, but will most likely be this autumn. If you know of former lighthouse keepers of any of these lighthouses, please email us their email address, regular mailing addresses and phone numbers.
How exciting! I've searched on the USPS site for any news and haven't found a thing. If anyone hears anymore about this, please post. Judy

Judy Judy, I collect stamps and get bulletins from the PO all the time. If and when I hear anything I'll be sure to let you know. HCS

I just heard about this yesterday. There was a very small article in the St Petersburg Times.
I wish they would have lighthouse stamps all the time. To go with the checks, the return-address stickers, ec.

I have a feeling that "this autumn" was supposed to have been "next autumn", because the USPS has already announced all their releases for 2006 through their Christmas stamps.
Even if it's not until next fall, it's good news and we'll want to follow it.

What kind of time frame did that article indicate, Kay?
Hilari, thanks for any info you might hear. Do you have your First Day covers from the Southeastern stamp release?

Judy Judy, I don't collect first day covers, just mint stamps. I do have the commemorative stamp panel of the Southeastern lights. HCS
