OK, sign-up for a no-envelope postcard exhchange! This one is even easier and cheaper!

See Shortcake's topic on all pc exchanges for details on this one, and others. Basically you are just mailing a lighthouse postcard as is. Maybe a short note of "Hi" on it AND be sure to put your name on it so folks know who it came from. No envelopes, no extras.

Start signing up NOW & ASAP!!! If you did not participate in the last in-envelope exchange or your mailing information has changed since then, be sure to let me know. I would like to get the ball rolling on this one soonest. New postal rates kick in on May 11th. I would like to give everyone a chance to save a penny (within US) on the increase and get this ready to go way before then, PLEASE...

Oh yea, try to keep the cards the same AND use a batch that you have not sent out in bulk before, whether in or out-of-envelope exchange.

My crystal ball tells me that the current postcard postage rate within the US is 27-cents.

I would very much like to participate BUT is it necessary to send out the same card to all on the list? I do not have nearly enough duplicate cards to send out!

To answer kory63's question, it has been my understanding that it needs to be the same card. I would invite other members that have been at this longer than I have, to chime in on this, if I am in error. My concern is that if we don't keep it that way, it becomes a form of the round-robin. And folks might get itchy postal fingers to unload cards that have been making the rounds before.

Admittedly, what I will be sending out, this time, will not be exactly the same card. This will be the first time for me to deviate from that rule. I always try to buy enough of the same card, in every new batch I pick up to send out. I don't want to give away what I will be sending out, but I feel my offering will stay within the spirit of the rule. Folks who are savy with the offerings of the USPS might pick up an idea on what my batch will be, or figure it out when they arrive.
Shhhhh, don't give it away. Please hold on to your guesses...

I'll be #8.

Rick, No you don't have to send out the same card but it help keep the confusion down. I try to use the same lighthouse (maybe different shots) if there are not enough of the same card.

I just found 11 or 12 all alike and I don't think Glen used any of them in the ten in-envelope y'all did last year. So I think I can handle being #10.

OK, since we have not had anymore new additions to the sign-up for a week now, I'm going to give it one more week before I close it out. Deadline for sign-up is Monday, April 13th. Any objections? I have no problem holding sign-up open longer if anyone likes? I count 12 sign-ups so far, so that really makes 11 and the sender. If you were initially not sure or have changed your mind not to participate, let me know by the deadline. Otherwise I'm counting everyone in!

April 13 sign-up deadline sounds good to me. I have my cards ready for addressing!

Thanks for doing this Schooner!

I have my cards ready. I did let Nancy know which lighthouse I got, to avoid duplication. We tend to pick the same things quite often.

OK, I'm calling sign-up closed. Here is who I have: schooner, meljb, lorie roe, shortcake, ladybug, rscroope, ellie, sunshine, wvlights0, bodielights01, wvsister. 11 total, so you will need 10 cards. If interested and not listed, let me know NOW! Soon I'll e-mail you all a mailing list, which you will need to check your information for mistakes. ONLY AFTER THEN, once I've OK'd it, you can start to mail out.

You should have received an e-mail now that has an attachment with the mailing list. PLEASE follow the instructions in the e-mail! Once we are sure everything is correct, I will put a post here to say it is ok to start. *NOT BEFORE THEN!* If you did NOT get the e-mail or cannot open the attachment, you can e-mail or private mesg. me through the header on my postings here.

OK, I think we are about ready to go! I only received one minor correction, which I will send in a revised attachment in an e-mail. But, I think everybody can make the adjustment themselves, right here and now. For Nancy in CA, the street number should be "630" NOT 634. My bad in the typing. Soooooooooooo... I would say, WE ARE OFF AND RUNNING!!! Feel free to start mailing now, with the minor correction.

Think Lorie's card came yesterday and Darlene's today. What do you do with the cards you receive? I think Glen had put them in a 3" three-ring binder.

Thank you,Stephanie. That way I can keep the binder for photographs. Maybe one of these days, I will be able to figure out the photo printer. And I can flag the postcards that We/I have seen. Glen had started keeping a card file of the lights we had been to, but I think we went on so many trips that he'd forget to update it. C'est la vie.

WOW, this one has been lightning fast, folks. My tally shows only two more to go. We could end up completing this within a month, or so, from the start of the mailing. I would guess that might be some sort of record for one of these (yea, I know the participant count is not what it used to be).

Anyway, I'm thinking about another round-robin after this mailing. No, do NOT start signing up yet...AND feel free if somebody wants to pick up the reins on these things for awhile. I would start a new topic for that. BUT, what I would like to get is some feedback on whether we would want to wait awhile before doing another one. We are getting into the summer vacation time of the year. Folks might want to take a break or need to restock their PC supply on their next trip, etc. Or you might just want to jump right back into it. Either way, I might consider holding open the sign-up period a little longer to get more people in it. What do you all think???

Personally, I would like to wait a while so I can replenish the cards. Maybe I can find something different on the September trip. I'm going to Cleveland on Friday. My oldest granddaughter is graduating from Cleveland State. Maybe I can find pictures of the Cleveland lights. Also, my older daughter and her family took me out for Mother's Day and then to see the new Star Trek. Super flick.

I think we need to wait a month or two. But that we should have some sort of Postcard Exchange sometime during the summer.

I will head up the Christmas Card Exchange this year. I will start a Sign-Up forum sometime around the 19th of October.

I think we should wait a little bit too... Suggestion starts for round-robin: Sign-up in June, start in July? Sign-up July, start August? Later than that?

Ellie, in response to your question... If you liked the article (which one?), yes, yes I am. If you didn't, no, no I am not. keyboard

Got back from Cleveland today. We parked at the little Coast Guard base when we went to the R&R Hall of Fame. Went into the exchange at the base and found a nice card with Lake Erie lights. Alas, they only had four cards. Hopefully I can write to the company and get more.

Also, Sooner Schooner, are you being political? LOL

Nope, I had hoped I was being cute, in a funny sort of way. Or funny, in cute sort of way.

Got Judy's card also, I think that means we only have one more to go before completion.

Ellie, you're lucky, my wife has to see me everyday! smile

Received Bob's card today. I have received all the cards. Thanks to everyone who participated. It's nice to get lighthouse cards in the mail. Sure beats the bills.

I also received Bob's card yesterday. It brought back many memories of visiting this light. On my first visit to Long Island, Bob showed me Old Field Point Light as well as several other local points of interest. He was also kind enough to help me when I called to say I was lost on Long Island and talked me over to the correct highway to find my hotel later in my visit.
I'll always remember that trip for having made a great friend from the Collectors Forums. Thanks Bob.

I have received all the cards also, except Bill's which has to be lost in the mail. I know his was the first one my sister received. This was great fun, the cards are beautiful and the notes on the cards make the senders a little better known.

Awaiting Bob's to complete my list.

Laura, it must have, they all went out together. I'll get a replacement out to you soon, no problem.

FYI ALL: I'll start a new topic in July or August for a round-robin.
