Just curious, at what number will we cutoff or is there a number? In the past the exchanges have not been allowed to get too high like 20 or so. That is not to say that we have to do it that way because that is the way it has always been done!

I am new at this, but from the few I have been in, I didn't think there was much chance we would actually get to 20. I was hoping a few new people would join in. Is there usually a cutoff?

I looked at past exchanges last night....they had a cutoff of 25 participants plus 2 more people (special people they sent cards to). They also did not always send the same card to everyone...I found that interesting.
I think if we get to 20, then we will see what everyone thinks about a cutoff.

We usually include Bill & Nancy Younger and John Gaskill (son of Bodie Light keeper) in our exchanges we just send cards to them, they do not send cards out.

Thanks Laura, just trying to figure out what card or cards I will use for this exchange.

In my recent past of running these things, we never had too many participants to worry about a cutoff as we did previously. I would not be concerned about it until you felt you were getting close to a number that you felt was not managable.

Also, I always suggested new cards, preferably the same, so it doesn't turn out to be just a way for folks to unload old mixed cards that have made the rounds on several occasions. I think that worked out better because when people commented about a card from somebody, everybody was on the same page as to who sent what. Less chance of disappointment if someone talked about getting card x, people get excited about what is coming, but they ended up getting card y.

Just my 2-cents worth of trying to help out...

Exactly why I was asking, some cards I have more of than others, was trying to get an idea of how many I might need. smile

What happens if you don't have exactly the number needed? I think I have 15 or 20 but no more than that of one kind.

I agree.

I used to try to get 2-dozen of one kind. Of late, a dozen and a half seemed to be enough.

I think your 15 or 20 will be fine. If you fall short by one or two, and you need to salt it with a couple/few of another kind to fill it out, I think the PCP (Post Card Police) will let you slide... just this once! wink laugh

Friday and Saturday to left to sign up! We have 15...do I hear 20??? We have room for more! I am missing one address and one email, I have sent messages for those. I plan to send the labels out for any corrections on Sunday. Will a month be enough time for everyone to mail their cards?

Final address labels have gone out. Since there were no objections, lets finish this exchange in one month. As Bill says...sooner is better than later...but no later that one month from today. Please post when you mail your cards, and report as cards are received. Happy lighthousing!

Arrived back home today after a two week visit with the Hubby (who is working in Northwest Louisiana) to find 2 cards waiting in my box for me. Thanks Judy N. and Rick! Both are great cards (that I did not have).

Judy, you did REAL GOOD... smile I don't know why I didn't pick up any postcards at West Point, but I didn't. So now I have one! smile Thanks! And glad that you like the extras that I included with my card.

Rick, that's a lighthouse that I've never heard of.... Thanks! Great information.

Hi folks,

So I don't duplicate myself, does anyone know what I sent out for the in-envelope exchange in April of 2009? Please let me know soonest. That is the only one that I can't seem to find a record of.

Hey Rick, good thing I am delayed sending out. I might have duplicated what you sent out!

Nancy, received yours yesterday and liked the card and coasters. Thanks

Ellie, received your card today. Glen did a good job. I like the pictures because they are personal. I have a number of lighthouse pictures that I could not find postcards of and would like to send out.

Thanks, all, for the cards and enclosures. I'm hoping to get my stuff out in the Monday mail. Work has been a killer the past two weeks. I have certainly enjoyed going to the mailbox and seeing the return addresses from many, many places. Plus great new postcards.

I will get my part done this weekend. Snow is coming, can you believe it! Darn!

Hey folks,

I was never able to figure out what I had sent last April, in hopes of not duplicating this mailing. In any event, mine went out today. Apologies in advance if it is a duplicate from my in-envelope mailing of April, '09. I don't think it is, maybe similiar, but hopefully not the same.

Got your card today, Tom. I didn't have one on that lighthouse so was pleased to receive it and the enclosure as well.

Thanks,
Judy

We started on March 1st and its now the 23rd. Finally got mine mailed today, hope you enjoy. I have received cards from Bill, Tom, Judy N., Nancy, Ellie, Stephanie and Rick. Great cards and extras from everyone! That leaves Bob, Melody, Judy R., Lorie, Carol, Carolyn & Roy, and Rip & Sharon...and of course mine still have to arrive. One more week and we will have made it in a month, come everyone.

Edited to correct: I have not received Bill's yet.

Bill, that was also the first lighthouse of my first lighthouse trip which was also our first Sister Trip. My first West Coast Cape Cod lighthouse, fell in love with them. A very special lighthouse. vhappy

Thank you for the nice response to Glen's card. Looking over the "to" list, I think, only Judy Newblom and Judy Rath knew Glen. Maybe Rip did, too. Tammy Wolff knew him, but she didn't sign up the posting this time.

I received Rip and Sharon's neat card yesterday of one of my favorite lights and photo of another terrific lighthouse. Great hearing from you guys. Missed seeing you at the recent Cedar Keys/FLA meeting.

Went to the mail box today (The UPS Store). Found 3 envelopes waiting for me... Bill Edwards, Laura, and Rip & Sharon. All great cards with good extras.

I rec'd Rip & Sharon's yesterday. I think I am missing Bill's, Laura's, Bob S., Mel's, Judy R's, Lorie's, Carol's, and Carolyn's I made the mistake of not keeping the envelopes.

I was reading an entry the other day and someone said something about keeping politics, religion, and sex out of the forums. I just wanted to mention that our church bulletin from 2/28 was a neat picture of Haceta Head...my favorite lighthouse. Hope that doesn't upset him.

I have mine all ready to go out tomorrow. Thanks to everyone that I have received cards from so far. I was out of town the first 2 weeks of the month...sorry to be a little slow getting my cards out.

Hopefully, my cards will be from some different places that you haven't had cards from before.

Any cards that come in the next two weeks will be waiting for me at my mail box. I'm going back to spend another two weeks with the Hubby in LA. smile

My cards went to the office mailroom today, which means they will go to the postoffice tomorrow. My sincere apologies for being so late. Hope everyone likes them.

I have truly enjoyed all the cards that I have received, the last being Lorie's. Bob's cards arrived nice and dry even though the envelope showed some signs of rain.

I've seen most in PR, but not the other two. Bob, I liked the card of the Washington lights. Where is Cedar Island? Thank you everyone.

I started my answer and hit a key and it went of into cyber space. I was telling you that I found the cards I intended to send before I sent the Pier 7 light "cards" that Glen had made. They are on their way. I found them in the computer room yesterday.

Sorry Ellie if I sent out the same card you sent in your second mailing - I had changed my mind about using the Cape Forchu card when you did not use it.

And to Rick, Sorry - I had to remail your cards to you, PO returned for lack of postage. I thought for sure I had put stamps on all the envelopes.

I received cards from Carolyn and Roy in yesterday's mail. I am shocked because I am usually the last to receive cards due to the mule-train postal delivery service in Franktown. wink

Thanks Carolyn and Roy. I love the view of Pemaquid on this card, and the multi-light Maine card is great too, and different from the one I sent out.

Ellie's card was in yesterday's mail. Thanks Ellie.

Carolyn and Roy's cards were the last I received. Still looking for Judy Rath's card.

At least the PO shouldn't have any complaints about losing business to e-Mail. I guess we could copy & paste cards into e-Mail and send them. That would be terrible, eh?

Thanks Bob for telling me where Cedar Island is. I could tell you made the card. Good job.

Still one more to go. I had heard from Judy 2 weeks ago, but I sent a note again.

Display? Mine are currently in a shoebox. I am leaning toward the 3 ring binder, but I can also see that I need to keep track of what I have sent. A recipe card box might be another idea.

Carol, I usually forget to get postcards while I am at a lighthouse because I am busy looking at the books and the pictures. I have found some great places for lighthouse postcards online.

Mine are in an oversized notebook in archival plastic sleeves and organized by state and foreign country. We are having a postcard show tomorrow and Saturday at the Jeffco Fairgrounds in Golden were one can find many old cards of various prices.
I enjoy collecting postcards and really look forward to our next exchange. I picked up some from my recent Southern CA USLHS tour so I'm ready!

Great package, Judy, and a lighthouse stamp for my cancelled stamp collection. I was hoping most everybody would use the lighthouse stamps when they sent theirs out.

Glen had started putting them in a binder but it is hard to get the right sleeves for the bigger cards. I had asked before and Mel told me about using the photo boxes. I had boxes full of negatives and extra photos from the pre-digital era. LOL

Love the lighthouse stuff, Judy! Wonderful photos and cards. I don't know that I'll get to Nova Scotia so these will be great to have. Absolutely worth the wait.

Very much worth the wait Judy! Very nice. Be sure to notice the copyright on the note card everyone.

I echo docsweetie in that I do not know if I will ever get to Nova Scotia but it is on my list. Love the postcards and the pages of "Lighthousing with Friends" Very neat how you did that. I'm not computer smart.

What is the name of the lighthouse on the note card?

Thanks, Judy. That was fabulous and nice to remember our fun trip. I forgot all about our group photo in front of Wood Islands LH. Loved your note card too.
