I desperately want to get in a post card mailing sounds like so much fun. I don't live by any lighthouses or have postcards any ideas on how to get a supply?

Geez Bob, put me on the spot why don't you! I was going to offer anyway, but I wanted to be #25. I think Lainey will participate - we have communicated and I offered to acquire some cards for her next week. If she is in, she is 23, I am 24 and we have room for one more.

Still plenty of time, though - this exchange shouldn't start until July 1st so we all have plenty of time to reload. As a mater of fact, I am making not one, but 2, trips to the land of the rolling blackout to get more post cards. I will be accepting donations to help offset the cost of these cards.

Give it a bit and then e-mail me with you snail mail address IF you have not previously been in a PC exchange that I was in.

Dave

OK folks, here is how I see it. At this point there are 23 players + HL. (I have included Lainey since I brought her back some cards). There is room for ONE MORE participant, or if we go back to John's original rules, 2 (25 + HL).

I have compiled the address listing and will need addresses from Lainey, JoAnn, Punkin, TD and CarolZ. Please email them to me at dhannum@iquest.net . No big hurry at this point. Please be sure to include your screen name as well as your complete snail mail address.

There is no big hurry as this exchange is supposed to run 7/1 to 12/31. We still have 2 exchanges underway (and I have to work on getting those cards out!) By the way, I am very dissapointed that no one stepped up to contribute to offset my expenses involved in actually being able to obtain lighthouse postcards. Had I not been able to obtain proper cards, you would have been receiving cards depicting Kokomo's world renowned steer and stump . So, be sure to send those donations!

I would say that closes it out- you agree Bob? We use the 25 plus HL rule, we are officially there. I already have addresses for Bob & Medic, so when I get the last few I will distribute the list.

I'm thinking that I will have to get one of our graphic gurus to add a lantern to the bull and then send that card on its way to Long Island. No tax on the group Bob, just trying to recover some of my investment to get the cards. I know I can count on a generous check from the (edited so I don't lose my access).

Anxiously waiting for those checks to roll in,

Dave

I don't care how you make out the check, just send it to me.

Did you count Lainey as part of the group? I have 25 names + HL (Maureen is in as Maureen, Bill would be the "HL").

I received a Sandy Hook card from Carol today. Idiots at the post office cancelled it on the front (sometimes they just don't understand the concept of a picture post card. Fortunately, in their cost cutting efforts they are using some pretty low quality ink and I was able to clean most of it off.

Bill, you will find that Maureen's card is from the last exchange (first half of the year).

Nice start to my collection. does anyone put them in albums to keep? what is the best way? Dave I was just wondering if I will get a card in the mail from you that may be the same as the one I'm sending, since your were the purchaser? LOL

I bought a photo album for my card collection. It was one designed for 4x6 photos one to a page. Each plastic sleeves holds two cards (one you see on the front, one on the back.)

It was hard to find an album that didn't have a built-in paper dividing the front window from the back one. But I did find one. I picked this one because I could insert just one card and in each sleeve(after removing the removable paper) I could see both the front and back of the card -- so I could view those cards with messages on the back.

It came with about 40-50 sleeves.

I found it at Aaron Brothers.

If you want to make your own album, simply buy refills for photo albums. Most will fit in a standard 3 ring binder, so you can start with a small binder and move to a larger one as your collection grows. You can get refills in a number of configurations and sizes. I have ones that will hold 4 (2 back to back) and 6 (2 portrait pockets and 1 landscape pocket) in 4x6 size. I also have some that will hold 4 5x7 size, as we have received some oversize cards. There is no divider between front & back, so you can display your cards and be able to read the message on the back.

These normally cost about $2.50 - $3 for a pack of 10 pages. Find them at Target, WalMart, Staples, Office Max and any related stores.

Want to get fancy? Use a view binder that has a cover you can insert a page in. Make up your own special cover that tells what is inside.

Dave

p.s.: Lainey, NO

During my recent travels while I was gone I received 5 beautiful cards from Oseabee, Beaconfollower, CarolZ, Joann D, and Maureen A.. Trust me mine will be forthcoming in the near future, probably in august!!. Thanks guys & gals for the great cards, its now nice to go to the mailbox and sift thru the junkmail and bills, and find something that is fun to receive!!
