I'm always amazed to see anything on Hawaii Lighthouses. The stamps are a bit steep at $2, $5 and $8 but it's interesting to see they're actually acknowledging them.

Thanks for the update Bob. I'm leaving on Nov. 20 for Hawaii for 10 days. I'll check them out while I'm there.

Interesting - a private post office of sorts in the islands. The fact that this is essentially a messenger type service explains the steep postage cost.

Thanks for the link, Bob.

Lorie you lucky dog! Got room for us? You sure do a lot of traveling. What island and where are you staying? I guess Oahu if you going to check these guys out?

Hi Bob,

We're changing just a little from last Thanksgiving. This year we are flying direct to Maui. We'll spend 4 days there and then leave for Kauai for a week. We'll have just one day in Oahu before we fly home.

If any of you are golfers, we are going to watch "The Grand Slam of Golf" in Kauai. It is always the Monday thru Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This tournament is the four PGA champions from the Master's, US Open, British Open, and the PGA Championship.

One other suggestion, I would highly recommend staying at the Hyatt on Poipu Beach in Kauai. This place has got to be one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever stayed at! smile

That sounds just lovely, Lorie. We were 5 days at the Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville on Kauai which we thought was awesome until we stayed at the Fairmount Kea Lani. We only got to see Poipu Beach one morning in the light rain but I was very impressed.
How would you compare those to yours? I'm looking at future references - we cool LOVED wink Maui and Kauai!
Have a great time! The golf tournament should be fun, it's quite amazing to see the Big Guns! I'll be looking for you guys.
Bob

Lorie if you're going to be next to Tiger you'd better hang out in the wrong fairway after the way he played today! wink

The crowd following Tiger is amazingly larger than you can imagine! At the US Open, we selected some strategical sites for many views from the same spot. Standing next to him is near impossible unless your his caddy, girlfriend, or police escort. If there are practice rounds, that's the time. Tiger is notorious for sunrise teeoff times and 2 1/2 practice rounds.

Surprisingly, the crowds are quite small at the "Grand Slam". I would guess that because of the location in Kauai and being the week of Thanksgiving that not as many people show up.

I can tell you from last year that Tiger does everything to avoid people from stopping him to have his picture taken with them. I was with 2 of my friends and Tiger was leaving the Hyatt hotel where we were staying(his limo was already out in front of the hotel). I grabbed them and said "this is our last chance to get our pictures taken with Tiger".

My husband tried to ask him NICELY if we could take a picture with him. He just kept on walking. frown He is very good at keeping his head down and avoiding eye contact. As he approached the limo, my husband finally BEGGED him if we could stand by him for a picture.

He finally AGREED and now I have a nice 8 X 10 of Tiger with me and my two friends. laugh

Looked a little windy and rain showered during the golf match on Kauai yesterday and didn't spot Lorie.

Got my Hawaii stamps two weeks ago. Got them 3 different ways - just stamps, FDC single each and FDC w/ all three. The packaged arrived certified with one of the stamps on the envelope.

I'm back! The weather was perfect for 11 days except for the last day of the tournament. There was every type of weather the final round: sun, wind, rain, then back to sun for the closing holes. It's pretty fun to be standing 10 feet from Tiger and watching him make an eagle.

Tiger set 2 new records; largest tournament win
(he won by 14 strokes with a -17), and a new course record on the final day shooting a 61.

My 3 friends and I managed to have our pictures taken with all 4 of the players; Tiger Woods, Rich Beem, Davis Love III, and Justin Leonard.

Did anyone notice TNT Sports broadcasting from Hawaii with Charles Barkley? He was staying at the Hyatt on Kauai and they were doing live broadcasting there for the NBA. My friends and I also had our picture taken with him. He is one BIG guy!
