Got 2 in the mail today. One from Todd of Little Sable Point- nice Sunset shot.

The other was from Rich- it was one I've been to Battery Point (Crescent City). It's his choice for the Christmas 2001 piece.

Sounds good to me.

Same one that I sent out to some people-paintings of 5 NJ lighthouses.

I have received 9 cards so far, all very nice and no duplicates of cards I had picked up on my own trips.
Bill, I had 2 extra cards when I got them all sent out, fortunately one was an extra of the jigsawed card, and I thought I would leave you in suspense until you got the replacement card as to who the sender was.

I can't tell everyone how much I have enjoyed receiving all the beautiful post cards. They really brighten my day!

It was suggested on St. John's post card exchange to maybe start the exchange all over again the first of the year after the holidays are over. Does anyone want to do the same thing on LHPE2? I am game for this. I just have to make sure to start a replenishment of 50 post cards!!

I have received about 10 postcards so far. Places I have never seen. I have noticed that the number of cards coming in has diminished somewhat. I hope the fun isn't over yet!!

Received three great post cards today. SE Block/Tom&Joyce, NJ Lights/Carol and Roundout II/Lori. Roundout II was a new light for me. SE Block, my wife and I saw this beauty before the second reunion. The lighthouse was closed when we went. We plan on going back soon. Hopefully it will be open.

Returned home for Connecticut and Long Island lighthousing trip to find 7 postcards in my mailbox along with several bills. The cards were from Brent - Assateague, Rich - Battery Point, Darlene - Mukilteo, Pharologist - Jupiter, Todd - Pointe Aux Barques, Bob M - Boston, and Terry - Split Rock.

I purchased my cards while in Connecticut and Long Island. I'll try to get them out this weekend. I wish you all could have been there to see these lovely lights and the wonderful fall colors.

Back from my trip to NJ and NC Have 18 postacrds in my mail pile, they sure look great!Took about 130 digital pictures of lights and will spend some time in editing them.

I'd be willing to to do this (LHPE) all over again after the 1st of the year. I can set it up with a few lessons learned applied. Obviously one shouldn't mail out the same cards a second time. Also, for those of you who want to use computer labels. I use Avery 2160 labels, and print them right from my mailing list in WORD, quick and easy. Since I mail the address list out as a WORD doc, all you would have to do is: 1) get a supply of AVERY 2160 labels, and 2) use the mailing list or convert it to your text program.

With Joanne's card in the mail today, I have now received 15 cards. This has been fun to go to the mail box each day and see what new cards came in the mail. It kind of feels like a "mini vacation" by reading about the different lighthouses depicted on each new card that arrives. Thanks again to everyone that is participating.

I received four cards on Monday and 3 more on Tuesday. I'm having such fun checking my mailbox each day for something other than bills. Lori's Roundout II, NY was beautiful. The Lighthouses of New Jersey from Carol Z. make me want to take and extra few days before the Baltimore Reunion. Pam sent a beautiful look at the Alcatraz light, and Tom & Joyce sent a card showing not only Southeast Block Island but also the lense at Southeast. I also received two beautiful cards from Joanne one showing lightning at Ponce de Leon Inlet, and the second showing Ponce de Leon, St. Augustine and St. Mark's Light. Donna's card showed the setting for the Tarrytown Lighthouse.
This postcard exchange has been so much fun I can't wait to do it again.

I just sent mine out in yesterday's mail, so keep an eye out for New London Ledge CT. I visited a shop in Mystic on Friday where I purchased my cards and the woman at the shop said someone else had just been in a couple days earlier and bought 25 cards as well. Wonder if its someone from the exchange?!?

The cramp in my hand from writing has finally gone away My grand total stands at 18 today. Looking forward to more.

Keri,

That was me in Mystic buying postcards. The ladies at the store were very nice and even helped me with a little early Christmas shopping. I didn't buy New London Ledge, although I considered it.

Keri or judy,

What was the name of that store in Mystic?

I'm going to be in that area this weekend and I'd like to stop in and check it out.

Going to CT/ RI to visit my daughter and my brother-in-law and family. We will probably find our way to at lest one lighthouse this weekend, maybe more.

Dennis,

I was at Mystic Village where that are probably 40 shops to see. I think the name of the store was Penquins & Ott. If that isn't it I was also at Elizabeth & Harriet's and Mystic Scrimhanders. There was another shop that I don't recall the name that had reproductions of several old lighthouse postcards. Mystic Village is just off the exit at I-95.

If you try to find the Watch Hill Lighthouse, stop in the village and ask for directions. The sign for the lighthouse is very small at a private drive. I walked from the village to the light, then I found out that I could have driven down because it is not in season there right now.

Stonington Light was nice and easy to find but considering it is a museum it is not in very good condition. The museum had some very nice exhibits and postcards.

Hope you have a great time.

Judy

Judy,
Small world! I'm just glad we didn't choose the same postcards! I live about an hour and a half from Mystic but I don't get down there very often.
Stonington Light is cute, but I've never visited the museum. Did you notice that the house next door was painted black? There has been controversy there because the homeowners want to renovate but the town zoing board won't allow it because of the house's proximity to the lighthouse. The homeowners painted their house black as a form of protest.
Actually lighthouses have been in the news quite a bit lately here in CT. One of the local tv stations sent a reporter and a couple paranormal experts out to New London Ledge for a night to determine if the lighthouse is indeed haunted. I didn't get to see the story since it was on at 5 and I was still at work (at another local tv station in fact) and my employers frown on watching the competition during work hours (go figure).

Anyway, glad you enjoyed your trip.
Keri

I got four more- Heceta Head from Ruthie, Alcatraz from Pam, a nightime Ponce from Joanne and an Esopus Meadows from Donna.

Not too many left to get.

We'll have to do this again in Jan.

Judy thanks for the info. I'll try and find those places. I've been to Stonington and I hope to get to Watch Hill this trip. Depends on the weather. i'm traveling with my mother-In-Law and she does not like to visit places in the rain.

Most of mine are from Marblehead in Ohio. I ran out of Marblehead after about 20! This is a super idea! Hope we start round two soon!

I got a Fire Island card from Judy Rath in yesterday's mail. I have visited this light and climbed the tower. It is truly a beautiful spot on Long Island.

I've received 20 cards from the first postcard exchange. I've also received 20 cards from the second postcard exchange. This has been fun to receive all the different cards from around the country.

I have received a total of 23 cards from LHPE2. All are great additions to my collection. I'm looking forward to doing this all over again after the first of the year, probably mid Jan as I'm moving from FL to NC on 1/4/01. Hope all of you other participants enjoy yours as much as i do mine!!
What with selling this house, packing, other arrangements and setting up for the move to my new house, I've not had a chance to edit my recent LH photos taken on vacation.

The thread lists my Name as "Pharologist" which is what I originally wanted as an email address but it was already taken so I shorten it by one vowel "i" to Pharologst. I have no never mind about it either way, its just trying to avoid possible confusion when someone trys to email me and forgets to drop the "i".

I'll answer to both, but my email may get to someone else

Hi DeDo, ...I'm still missing four postcards from the first exchange and one from the second exchange. The exchanges are set up so that a person is to mail the cards within a four month period. I'm sure the stragglers will catch up soon.

I just received a great looking card of Ponce Inlet from Tim. I see that John is ready to send out his second group of cards. As soon as I receive his card, I will have post cards from everyone on this post card exchange.

I am going to southern California over Christmas break and will be getting my post cards for round 2. This will be fun to anticipate new cards coming in to chase away the winter blues!

Just checked my list for Exchange #2. Only lacking two cards, John's & Tim's. It has been fun!

For those who've indicated interest in 'renewing' this exchange after the first of the year, please post your desire to be in one of the two 2001 Postcard Exchanges - either mailed in an envelope or mailed without and envelope.

Well the postman just picked up my final (and your final) post card of the HURON lightship.

Honest.

Really.

Yep, it's in the mail.

Sure is.

Hope you all enjoy it.

Now on to 2001. It will be a while before I get to a region where lighthouse post cards are readily available.

If anyone decides not to renew, can some new people join?
