These stamps are not just stamps, they are hunting licenses and they are works of art. The beautiful detail is incredible! We have collected these right from the beginning and think they are lovely! By the way... does anyone know the name of the lighthouse on this one?

That's Dutch Island, RI Light. More info: http://www.lighthouse.cc/DILS/ I like the stamps, too, though I don't collect them. There's a bunch with lighthouses on them...since lighthouses and ducks are both near water, they go well together.

Brilliant! Thanks Greg! Anyone want to see any more Lighthouse Duck Stamps? I am asking 'cause I don't want to bore you all... We have all - with one exception - Duckstamps with lighthouses. The exception has to do with the price ... need to win some lottery first I fell in love with them, because the paintings are all so brilliant.

Margret, I don't think anyone will get bored. I would love to see them and pass the info along to a friend - her son collects miniatures of ducks and may be interested in the stamps.

Well here is another 2005 Duck Stamp. With this one I know the lighthouse. It is New Hampshire's White Island Lighthouse. I am working on a page for our website to show off these lovely cinderellas. Actually Duck Stamps are - in philatelic terms - not stamps. They have no connection to postal services. But why philatelists call these kind of stamps "cinderella" I am not sure.

By the way GRace, if your friend's son is on the internet, he might like to look here: Sam Huston Duck Co. And there are, of course, books around. We have one called "The Duck Stamp Story" by Eric Jay Dolin and Bob Dumaine - signed by Bob and very informative! These little works of art are very beautiful. On Sam Houston's website you can vote for your favourite motiv for the 2006 Federal Duck Stamp. There are pictures of the entries in the competion.

Thanks, Margret. I will certainly pass this information along. The guy is a surgical resident so has little time, but he does pursue outside interests when he can.
