After talking to several people in the last week I learned that no one but Dave seems to have receieved the postcard that I sent two weeks ago.
If you didn't receive one let me know and I'll send you other. There seems to have been a problem with three days with of mail service in our area of St. Louis.

Which card did you send, Sunshine? I haven't been checking them off as they come in. I know I haven't received any doubles of any card yet, so if you let me know what card was sent I will advise if I received it.

Hi Judy,
I received your card of Avery Point CT while I was out of town. I'm not sure what day it arrived but it has a Sept. 12 post mark.

I received Bob McKeon's card in the mail today. Thanks for the extra enclosure!

Also thanks to all the cards I received while out of town.

Thanks for the response, Bob and Lorie.
Bob, I sent Avery Point Light from a picture I took last October.
Lorie, I'm glad you can make both trips. I received your card in the mail last evening. Maybe Bob's will be there tonight. My mail seems to arrive several days later than everyone elses.
Also, let me thank everyone for the cards I have received as they always brighten my day.

See you all in Baltimore!

I'm glad to see the cards are arriving in other parts of the country. The people closer to home have yet to receive them.

Dropped all mine in the mail box last night. Maybe some will get em before leaving for Baltimore... but if not, they will be there when you get home.
I think I'm going to buy the 8 X 10 postcards next time so I'll have more room to write on

Great idea, Medic, but please don't do that! Our good friends in the Postal Service trash anything larger than a 4x6 postcard on a fairly regular basis. Even the ones just a little larger, like 5x7, receive massive amounts of damage from their automatic machines.

Just home from Baltimore and Medic's card was waiting for me. It is a very nice card (or a mini painting) of the SC lights. A very nice picture, indeed. Thanks, Medicman!

Might I suggest that you take this to a new thread and leave this one to be used for the exchnage now underway? And, I believe you will find that #5 is now underway. Your new one would most likely be #7

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for the SC card, Medic..brings back lots of memories..I've been fortunate enough to see them all thru my camera lens...
Derith

PS.....Plan to be in the SF area for at least a week.....you will be in lighthouse heaven!!! The trip to Point Sur requires a Sat or Sun and planning ahead for reservations and of course you want to spend the night at Pigeon Point.

Nana,
We're already starting on the plans... We'll be staying in San Mateo... and we've got to see Point Bonita, then Fort Point at Fort Winfield Scot, a tour out to Alcatraz is in order, would love to see East Brother light but we'll have to wait and see.... then we're heading south to see Point Montara and Pigeon Point. I doubt if we're go any further south then that.

Good question, Suzanne. According to my records, there are a bunch or folks who still need to get their cards out. (and for once, I'm not one of them!)

Okay...mine went in the mail yesterday. Not all are the same as I had to raid the "extras". I was trying to do something special, but that will have to wait for the next exchange.

Bubba...are you happy now?

I, too, am one of the late senders. I have received 15 of the 25 in this group. I bought the cards in June! I will note that it is Postcard #5?. I noticed in the previous one that I received a postcard from at least one or two persons well after the closing date. Was ready to check it off on this list, #5 when I realized that the person sending it was from the postcard #3 list.

That alone is confusing. I've been a part of all the postcard exchanges without an envelope. I believe the current one, 7/01-12/01 is the 3rd. The upcoming new year the 4th. Yet they are labeled along with the ones in the envelope.

Just for reference, I did not receive cards from four of the people on the previous list, (prior to 6/30). Actually these people sent to the current one,or where they sending late or to the current one??

Donna,

The way they have ended up being numbered, the no envelope exchanges have been odd numbers, the in envelope have had even numbers. You will note that the last time I started a thread I used the #, the in/not in envelope status and the dates involved to try and help identify which thread we were talking about. If we used the same numbers for both in envelope and no envelope, I think the confusion would be even worse.

I show that in this exchange (PC5, no envelope, 7/1-12/31/01) there are 11 folks that still need to send cards. I know that 5 of them are in the process of getting them done. FWIW, in the two exchanges from the first six months, there were 3 people in each who did not send (not necessarily the same 3 in each).

Some folks who have signed up may have forgotten they signed up, or may not have been able to get their cards. I have still enjoyed receiving all the really neat cards everyone has sent, even though we have had a few misses each go-round. I just chalked it up as a cost of doing business.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for defining the numbering system. It now makes sense why we are talking about Ex. #5 when I know it is the third one I've been involved with, (all without envelopes).

Two more in today's mail! Nauset Light from Donna (DeDo) and Point Wilson, WA from Derith. As usual, more great cards to add to the collection. The old binder is getting pretty full; going to have to start a new one for the next exchange. Will be able to do a lot of "postcard lighthousing" this winter!
