Please use this thread to post a note when you mail your cards. It is also helpful if a few folks will post when they receive the cards. Don't forget, all cards should be in envelope (not written on) and will hopefully have a write up with them about why you chose the light. All cards should be mailed by December 31st.

Mine went out in today's mail with a write-up on my trip to the Outer Banks and a 'bonus' card in the package.

Enjoy!

Got Tammy's card and bonus and great write up today. Hopefully the first two outstanding entries for this exchange will give everyone an idea of the kind of neat write ups that make these in-envelope exchanges so much fun.

Mombo's envelope made it to SNOWY Utah today. Thanks for the assortment of "goodies". smile

Also thanks to Tammy. I have stayed on the island where Tammy's lighthouse postcard is from. I took a seaplane ride over the orca pods. They are fascinating to watch from above. John and I were also able to observe a 40' gray whale from the seaplane. They have a huge tail! wink

I have a question???? But by asking I will be spilling the beans on my intentions for this exchange.

You say unused, NO writing. But how about a 1st day Cancellation Stamp?

I was at the Tybee Island Postoffice for the 1st day Celebration. And bought a supply of the Lighthouse Stamp Postcards, and as an extra bonus I had ALL of then stamped with the 1st day cancellation. I thought this would be an extra gift to anyone who received them. What do you all think? Yea or Nay?

I don't think anyone would object, Stephanie. If they do, they can send me the card and I will replace it with one with no first day cancellation. . . . .

I am a little bummed out at the postcard I bought for this exchange. frown I thought it was of a card that hadn't been sent before but now I realize it was sent out a couple of years ago in a PCE.

I am guessing that maybe 5-6 of you could have already received this particular card.

I am leaving to go our of town on Friday the 21st for the Thanksgiving week. There are 40 of us in my immediate family(I have my parents, 5 sisters, 1 brother, plus all our kids)that are going on a cruise together.

I'm not telling you where I'm going in hopes of maybe finding a new card while I'm on my trip. smile

I received Stephanie's card and letter today and I thank you! smile

As far as "breaking the rules" those of us who were in PCE17 (probably most of us!) already have a "clean" version of Shortcake's card.

So the two rule benders have combined to reverse the "in" and "out" of the envelope process! smile

Having the two versions of the the card....priceless! smile

Glad you and your hubby got a nice, unrelaxing break from your jobs, Steph! On the plus side, just look at all the $ you two are making working those long weeks!

I received Shirin's today. Very nice! Great photos in the letter.

Stephanie, I also got your card last week. The cancellation stamp was cool. I mailed my postcards on October 28. Wow! I can't believe it took that long. Was the address wrong? People always complain about snail mail. I haven't really had any problems with the USPS that I'm aware of...

Thanks to both of you! It always makes my day to find postcards waiting for me.

Tammy,

I work out-of-state for months at a time. You had the address correct. But my mail just sits in a box in Mobile, usualy for a week this time for two, then is put back in the US Mail in a large package envelope and farwarded to me in bulk. I do get everything that is sent to me, it just takes longer!

No Jen, this thread is not the Christmas Card exchange. Shirin may be waiting a while to see if any more people want to sign up for that.

I just returned home today from our family cruise. I'm making a quick 2 day stop home before I leave early Wed. morning for Hawaii.

I figured I better hurry and get these cards in the mail so I can work on my Christmas cards when I get back home.

Everyone gets the same card.

Gee, I guess I'm the first to get Lori's card. Nice card and letter, designed to make all of us envious of how she spent her Thanksgiving (at least I'm jealous . . . .). I'll bet this is a new card for everyone.

Lorie,

I received your letter and card today, too. The Bahamas and now Hawaii. Sounds nice! My friends and I are considering going on a cruise to the Bahamas to celebrate our 40th birthdays. Two days ago I was checking out the lighthouses in the Bahamas and trying to determine if I would get to see any if we go on a cruise. So, I thought it was funny to get your postcard. I'd be interested in hearing how long your cruise was and what cruise line you chose.

Tammy

Digger's card was waiting when we returned from Michigan City. I think many of our east coast friends will be able to "identify" with the scene depicted.

Marblehead, Mass. Lighthouse, you will always have a very special place in our hearts. ....We've made the journey as far south as New Jersey, as far north as Canada. Over 100 lighthouses visited.... and so many more to go.

Big day today. Received cards from LI Bob and John Tamlin. (John probably didn't post he sent out as they are having computer problems as they settle into their new snow bird winter digs. Congratulations to Karen on her very recent retirement!) Anyway, neat (and new) cards from both.

Hi Everyone,

Since I posted my last reply (12/6), I have received cards from Steve Ervin, Bob Scroope, Charles Bernth, and John & Karen Tamlin. Thanks to all for the nice cards and for those who sent extras. All are new cards to my collection. Hope I didn't miss thanking anyone. Oh, I also got a note and some brochures from John Gaskill!

Thanks to all of you that have sent out cards while I have been gone. smile

My kids keep asking who all these people are that I am getting mail from. I keep telling them that they are all my "lighthouse friends".

Thanks to all of you for enhancing my life through lighthouses and the HL organization.

Doc John's card made it's way west. A very nice card for this time of the year.

Interesting - it took as long for Suzanne's card to get here from southern Wisconsin as it did for John's to arrive from Arizona. On the positive side, it did make for a nice day's mail.

I received both your cards today Suzanne! wink It was a bonus day at the mail box. You're sure making me want to try and make the Door County walk.

I received Doc John and Suzanne's cards last week -- two more new cards to my collection. Thanks to both of you.

I need to start a second album now or else get a larger one.
