A friend of mine at work just told me that he had an item on ebay for bid.
He gave out his credit card info and bank account to ebay. The item was on ebay for a few days then it just disappeared. It even had one bid on it. He reported it to Safeharbor on ebay but it will be up to 24hrs for a response. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?
Ebay has moderators who check items from time to time to see if perhaps that item should not be offered on eBay for various reasons. If they feel the item shouldn't be offered, they end the auction immediately, bids or no bids. This happens with certain types of police related items, license plates, etc. They also pull items considered to be in poor taste.
As far as your co-worker giving a credit card# to eBay, well they require that now. Bank account info?...I don't see why they would need that unless they are automatically deducting payments from his or her account.
I must add that the eBay monitorings are random checks and things don't always get looked at unless a private party notifies eBay about an inappropriate item.
I once had a good size license plate collection and dealt with those items on eBay. They pulled one of my auctions because the plate wasn't old enough to be auctioned. I don't know how they came to that determination but I put it back on the next week and it sold. I guess it's who is moderating at that particular time.
Now let's break into song..."I got the power....!!!!"
