Got to looking at this and thinking maybe it's the 'gray water' version? Then I hit myself on the head and said... It's NOT a picture of what they are selling. It's a photo they STOLE from HarbourLights.com They don't post what the serial number is; they want you to call and find out. Hmmm. I think I'll call them.... ...thieves. Looks like it's a dealer, too.

John,
Are you saying that there is a "gray water version"?
I would never purchase from someone who uses a photo from HL.

The green water piece I have has a lot of gray coloring in it with splotches of green throughout the gray.

Taking a quick look, this isn't the only picture they borrowed. They seem to be pretty proud of their HL's, judging from their starting bid figures. Be interesting to see if they go anywhere.

...and $14.95 for UPS insured shipping!? That alone should tip anyone "HL street smart" enough to know a RIPOFF when they see one...

Yep that's a picture of my Michigan City Lighthouse and I am sure not selling it.. I ought to know since I shot it and it's still sitting right there in my cabinet next to a blue water version..

At last years Edgewater signing event Rich mentioned to Kim that I had four Michigan cities. Kim in surprise asked me why I had so many. My answer to her was that there are many water variations and I collect variations. Kim’s response to that was that there a lot of variations because they just couldn’t get the water color right.
There are a lot of water variations. Just off the top of my head, not counting Paul’s rare gray version there are five colors variations. One collectors claim to have an all green water one. If that is true there are six.
Pretty much if you buy one with the number less than 2500 you have a shot at some kind of water variation that is different from the standard Malaysian blue water.

Everybody knows how hard I tried to find a "green water" Michigan City. For almost 2 years I hunted and watched Ebay and posted on the Forums for one. I was finaly contacted by a collector that must have seen my Forum request and had pity on me. He sold me a #0425 gray/green water variation about 3 months ago. I was happy as a lark and still am.
Now let me tell you the rest of the story. Last week one of the people that works for me came and told me that his father had found a couple of lighthouses at a flea market a couple of weeks ago. He picked them up at fifty cents each because they were pretty neat. He told his son about them and the son said that I collected lighthouses and he would like to give them to me. The son brought them in last week in a cardboard box wrapped in bubble wrap and gave them to me. I figured they were the gift shop ones that 50 thousand were made and sold for a buck ninty five each. As I unwrapped the 1st piece I knew right away that it was a Portland Head GLOW so all was not bad. The next one that I unwrapped I figured it was another GLOW. WRONG!!!! It was a Michigan City LE with "GREEN WATER" and I mean "GREEN WATER". Both are in perfect condition but with no boxes or COAs. BIG DEAL !!! The green water is the color of my New London Ledge which is a deep green color. The serial number on the Michigan City is #2343 and the Portland Head GLOW is #A3099.
Here's another variation for Michigan City to add to your list Daniel.

Congratulations Rich. The solid green version is rare and so are the Malaysians with any green in the water. Some of the early Malaysian made have a slight cast of green in them. Rich you are confirming that there is a solid green water Michigan City?

Yes Daniel there is a dark green Michigan City made in Malaysia. And there is also a light teal green New London Ledge. I got that from a Oregon dealer when I was looking for a green water New London ledge. I asked Kim about the teal green when she signed it and she said things like that will happen with a smile on her face. The dark green Michigan City was also signed by Bill.

No zero. Just #425. Why do you ask Daniel?

Rich The reason I asked is that sometimes the factory numbered the L.E.'s with two or three numbers with zeros in front of them making it a four digit number. The name that Kim called them is "place setting". Harbour lights doesn't care for this type of numbering system and they stop it as soon as they find out. This is relatively rare and can be found on some of the early Canadian southern Bells. For recent production it can be found on the Boon Island and Absecon. It is also found on the early glows that were eventually switched over to a L.E.
I never heard of a place setting being used on a Michigan City and that is why I wanted you to verify it.

Sorry. It's just natural for me to keep all my pieces as 4 digits. That's they way I have my inventory set up so typing in the "0" for a three digit number is what I do.
