Terry, The first year of the open edition Cape Hatteras's have the "Great American Lighthouses" (GAL) tag on the bottom of the piece. Harbour Lights changed the name of the line to "Great Lighthouses of the World" (GLOW) after the first year. I think it was because of a legal problem with some other company all ready using that phrase. So it is only the "A" flag cape Hatteras's that are "GAL"

I`ve still never seen one or even heard of one for sale. How many GALs are out there? Were they stopped before ever getting the idea through the factory?I know its a GlOW now,but why is the GAL never brought up?
Just curious,TerryBarfield

Yep! Me Too! At one time the GAL was selling for $150 to $190 on the secondary market. Mine is number A1587, pictured on the following Harbour Lights page along with some GAL information!

If you see a goofy looking acronym anywhere in these Fora, check out the HAL , our Handy Acronym List. This and other fun stuff can be found in the Forum Goodies announcement in the "Forum About These Forums" forum. The Forum Goodies are also readily accessible through the Newbie Jumpgate thread in the "WWW.el.come Start Here" forum. All of this comes to us courtesy of JTimothyA's persistence in bringing us what we need to know.

Maybe if we revealed to the newbs that the forums are actually a giant adventure game with clues scattered all over the place...

Art, Thanks for explaining the cryptic letters. I too was confused but afraid to ask what they meant. I'll know in the future to check other places. Thanks again. Carolyn
