Well I have one word of advice to all. Do not ever bid in Ebays live auctions, I did tonight and lost because some Complete fool thats bids on your behalf decided not to enter MY BLEEPING BID! I spent a week thinking YES I GOT IT Look for your self. I was willing to pay a lot more for it. http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250176907709 Sold for $70.00 and I was just getting started. The item was wrongly listed and I kept it my secret (Sorry) Now you two can shed a tier for me.

Try using Auction Sniper next time Mitch--they haven't failed me yet.

It would not have mattered in this case, When you bid in a live ebay auction, Its like your there and your bidding against people at a real auction. when you hit the bid button a person on the other end waves his hand I suppose. I hit the dang button and it placed the bid but for some reason it didnt register. Lesson learned. Alway put in a absentee bid before hand. Rob

Ooohhh Sandy ... I HATE snipers. Not sporting in my humble opinion. But I can understand why people use them!
And I had never come across LIVE BIDDING before. Must look into that a bit more. But it seems unnecessarily complicated. Why to people do it?
Mitch ... we spent a tear or two for you, as this looks like a real unlucky thing to have happened! Better luck next time!

A number of years ago I won an auction after posting a bid of $1,500,000.00. I was so nervous when the auction was within 1 minute of ending that I typed in the amount shown by mistake. The next bid was considerably less than the $15,000 I'd intended to bid so I didn't feel obligated to pull myself out of the auction. I won the auction with a bid $50 more than the next person, but learned that I'm no good under pressure and decided to start using Auction Sniper. I determine what I think is the maximum that I'll pay for the item, tell them to bid for me, and leave it alone. If someone outbids me before the auction ends, AS notifies me and I can up the ante if I choose to do that. I don't know the specifics of eBay's live bidding, but assume they charge the buyer; AS only charges me if I win the auction.

Sandy What I do is I figure out how much I want to bid and I enter the bid the first time where it is not official yet. I then open up another screen and watch the bid. As the bid gets toward 20 to 30 seconds left I then enter my already establish bid amount. If I miss it, I walk away knowing that I gave it my best shot for the price that I was willing to pay. This way I don’t get in a panic bid where I keep biding without thinking. Some times I also miss the bid by firing it off to late. In this case I walk away thinking maybe the other bidder was more deserving of the win.
The bids that I get the most upset over are those that I want to bid on and then totally forget about them and never bid.

I strongly agree with Daniel's bidding practices on ebay....
I don't like the practice of "Sniping" either as it takes the fun away from using ebay and generally just makes some one who is bidding on that item mad as heck!
Place your highest bid and leave it alone.... Another one usually comes along in time anyhow...
