I just purchased Pt Arena on Ebay(hasn't arrived yet) for $85.00. Knowing the history of this HL, I felt it was a great deal. With its history of breakage and with only producing 5436 of them,I am wondering why this particular light is not skyrocketing out of sight on the market? It's a beautiful piece and there is possibly only 3000 left unbroken.
Any speculations?

My guess is that about 2000 unbroken ones survived. And that number continues to dwindle as secondary shipments sustain breakage too.

A couple of years ago, I surmised that perhaps 700 collectors held those 2000 and in an informal survey, when someone had a Point Arena, they had more than one.

So long as a large number of collectors have extras, the price won't rise substantially.

I certainly think that by now those 2000 pieces would have dispersed some and expect you'll see a rise up into the high $100s to mid $200s in the next six months.

You got a great buy on e-bay.
