The same seller sold a whole 4th order lens last year. I forget what it went for. If I recall correctly, it waas originally in the Cape Otway, Australia lighthouse.

There was a short article in this month's Lighthouse Digest (p.12) indicating that Sea Girt has received a 40" high 3rd Order fresnel lens that was once in use at the Crowdy Head Lighthouse "down under" in Australia from 1920 to 1970. The lens apparently was bought on E-Bay although the article did not specify the price.

I remember seeing this 4th order lens being sold last year. If I recall correctly, the first go round didn't meet the reserve, however it did sell on the second go round which I thought was over $15,000 or so....
Assuming my dusty brain is working correctly. These are nice lens though!

I found the previous 4th order thread:
http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/cgi-bin/forumscgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001092
$20,000 was the final price!

Shipping for the lens from Australia to NJ was between $5 and $6K. I believe the NJLHS provided the funds to the Sea Girt lighthouse for the shipping.
