Well, Here is one of the original Crib's with the broken trees, and Reunion misspell up for grabs. Already at $91 from beginning at $10. Interesting huh!?

At least they have made full disclosure on the condition. Making a hefty return on a piece that they received a free replacement for.

Isn't there a list that shows who got which numbers? And shouldn't someone send this person a sham on you note. After all Harbour Lights did ask everyone to destroy the broken pieces! I know that many of us didn't do that... but to sell it... that just isn't right! bash

Steph,

I gotta agree wholeheatedly with you on this one. Whoever is attempting to sell the piece is no higher on the ladder of evolution than a disgusting slug and should probably be stepped on or used for fish bait. bash

Not to make anyone feel bad.

Someone asked the seller the following and here is the reply

Quote:
Q: Are the breaks clean enough to fit together simi-unnoticed when repaired?
Mar-03-07
A: The are 2 loose pieces of tree branch, each about ¼ inch long. I think it might leave the tree tops unstable if you had glue on the top and bottom of a loose tree branch. The breaks appear to be clean. Maybe you could use toothpicks to make a little tree cast. Would the repair be un-noticed, I don’t think so. I’m just glad my dad did not find this or he would have thrown it away. It is one of the last items my mom acquired before she passed away, so I was lucky to find it. I knew someone would want it, even if broken.
BTW this seller is the one that listed the HL102. He is also selling a Bailey's Harbor and the Reunion Waugoshance.

Sad to say this will probably be the fate for all of my beloved HL's someday. My family does not enjoy them as much as I do.

You must realize that no one can tell another person what to do with their HL collection. As far as the Cheboygan Crib piece goes, if Harbour Lights wanted them destroyed they should have requested a one-for-one trade. You give them the broken piece, they give you the replacement.

One would think that other CC owners may offer their broken piece of eBay after seeing the success of this auction.

Cyndi, ...I have the same situation. I'm the only one in my immediate family who enjoys collecting HL's. I suppose there are a lot worse things that could be collected instead of HL's. I do enjoy buying and selling these little treasures. It keeps me out of the bar rooms, so to speak. LOL!

Cyndi and Bob,

I've got the same problem. My brother and his family think that I'm totally insane. No one seems to give a dang one way or another. I guess we tend to live in different dimensions. violin

Melody, Bob and Cyndi,

Why do I get the feeling that our boat will soon be over-crowded? It's a dang shame, but what can we do?

Get a bigger boat?

Maybe someone in our families will come around. Or Not! frown

Well, you can all write me into your wills! I'll more than happily take care of your HL collections. And you wouldn't have to worry abut another changeover soon after...

Well, my daughter shares my love for dolphins, maybe I can inspire her to love lighthouses too. They maybe moving from Missouri down where by us. So I can start working on her.

But I'll keep you in mind Greg, just in case.

Yes, many of us are in the same boat! I just cringe thinking about what my relatives will do with our HL collection once we are gone. I guess they could just bury us in one of our curios, Harbour Lights and all!

From the price of these LEs went for, we can surmise that the Legacy that we leave our heirs will make them a little richer (if they're smart enough to ebay the rarer ones) and newer collectors happy to have the chance to get some hard to get low cheers number editions. Now about those other 100 LEs...

It may be time to code the keeper box!lol
