Hey,
Did anybody else see these latest auctions on E-Bay? http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=262854089

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=262889744

The "Original 17" AND "The Great Lakes Series" both up for bid the same day by the same person. Far to rich for my blood. Any takers out there?????

I saw the auction for the "Original 17" and there are some very nice pieces in that group. I do not know if the asking price is competitive but at that figure I expect there will be very few bids. I would be surprised if it isn't eventually sold piecemeal.

I'd never be able to afford that set. I will hold out and find the two, Coquille and Hatteras in an estate sale some time.

Originally, this seller was offering (at auction) the "first 50 pieces" HL made including the errors. Reserve bidding started at $5000. I contacted the seller and she was very nice and indicated that her reserve was in the neighborhood of $400 each. She sure has some great pieces that I would love to have had. Too rich for my blood however. I hope someone can give them a good home!

I checked the prices with the greenbook and came up with a value of $6895. That is almost $1000 less than the starting bid. But considering how hard it is to come across California pieces. The opening bid may not be out of line. For somebody that could afford this, it would be a start of a very impressive collection.

I also had a very nice conversation with the person selling those pcs. She stated that she also has one pc. #10 that Bill tried to obtain from her.
I feel the asking price is quite a bit too high, esp. for my blood. She did say that the collection was in beautiful condition. It would be a great addition to someones collection if you are not concerned with paying even a little more than "top buck."

I was out of town and not near my PC: Did she ever get a bid on the Original 17? Did they sell? For how much?

No bids that I remember. I don't think any HL collectors won a lottery anywhere in the country.

There were no bids on this that I saw either. Would be a great start for a serious collector. I'd never be able to afford that either. Just getting the current releases has drained me.

I see that the are all on e-bay again. Now the inventory includes: Original 17, Southern Belles, Great Lakes Series and New Egnland Series. That is a total of the first 38 lighthouses. My lottery ticket still hasn't come in.
