Someone out there might want to see this. I'm sure someone may want to bid. Looks great!

This is 102R - the revised, not the original.

It took me a minute to figure out what "NEEDLE" was in this listing. I thought the Seller might have a Pharos piece, Needles, England. What is meant is lightning rod. I have seen 102R on eBay go in the $500. range recently--IF the reserve has been met. The Lighthouse Trading Company has one listed for $675 in their "Just Arrived". This is a pretty good indication of how far the market has fallen this year. But this eBay CH2 looks MINT. Somebody might get a great deal.

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the world of WACKO's!!!

I have no idea what this may end up at. The old book states a value of $800. but that was in 1998. Values have changed since then, some up, some down. I'm curious as to what this one may go for.

Bert wink

Speaking of Lighthouse Trading, they have this one listed on ebay, too.

I would think this HL102R would go for $450-$500. You can bet that the reserve is at least $400. I don't think any owner of a similar piece would give it up for anything less than that.

The subject Cape Hatteras Mold #2 piece has a flag #304. See the following link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2134878343&rd=1

Would have thought that this piece would have been made in Canada! The 1998-9 Greenbook seemingly indicates that the lower number Mold #2 pieces up to somewhere in the area of #1923 were made in Canada. Yet a photo attached to this auction shows a Made in Malaysia sticker on the pieces felt bottom!!!!

How about it Saint WACKOPaul ..... can you shed some light or surmise on this????????? confused

If a low numbered piece is damaged or broken and sent back to Harbour Lights or at least the flag removed and sent back they can use that number again to replace the piece, if production had switched after the piece was broken it would have been replaced by a Malaysian piece. Since it was a low number the dealer or original buyer probably wanted that number replaced. I am just guessing thats what happened here.

Hi Mayor,

That explanation sounds as plausible as any. I was thinking along the same lines. Thanks for the response.

I think Mark's theory is a good one. It could have almost been a replacement made for an original Hatteras at that number since there are up to the number 280+ numbers found on original Hatteras's.... this could have been one that was produced later on to replace some that never got shipped to dealers.. the mystery is why it took a couple of years to happen, since they would have been produced in Canada for a couple of years.

I was surprised to see not a single bid on the Lighthouse Trading Company's Cape Hatteras @ $475. I would conclude that times are tough, BUT then I see an Admiralty Head with rod go for $256 on eBay, a Ponce de Leon go for $355, a Tybee for $280 and one for $250. Who can figure?

Two CH2s went for $675 and 600 repectively on 9/4!
