At John's request for help for Retired@Retail, we went to two local dealers yesterday. In addition to finding many lights that could be listed on R@R, we made one special find.
They had recently remodeled the second store. (In fact, we purchsed two used curios from the store's owner.) We were looking at their shelves marking our list for R@R and saw a Yaquina Head in the display which Bill had signed. Since we didn't have that one, we decied to take it. Also this particular dealer keeps their inventory in a notebook with all the Harbour Lights listed with each pieces number. We asked if we could take a look at the inventory notebook. As we went through the book, we saw "Point Arena put out". We thought it was a mistake and asked them about it. The girl went to the storage, and sure enough they had a new in box Point Arena for sale. It appears that when they were remodeling they happened to find this piece -- in fact they had not even put it it the display. Yes, we did buy it!!
It just goes to show you that if you look hard enough, you can still find great deals out there.
