The Top Ten Harbour lights on Ebay for the last two weeks ending 10-10-04

The Top Ten highest priced Harbour Lights on ebay are:

1. ST. AUGUSTINE, FL- RETIRED - #138– $312.53 Comes in Original Box with Certificate of Authenticity. Piece has never been displayed and has Low number of 506. Probably a Malaysian since there are very few Canadian made St Augustines. This is more like it. I told everyone that the prices would come back for the Southern Bells during the pre Christmas period.

2. Harbour Lights 5th Order Fresnel Lens # 631 $250
It is usual to start seeing the popular Harbour Lights go up in value for the Christmas buying season. The 5th order is extremely popular and has gone beyond $300 in the past. If you want to find a deal for this one this is not the time.

3. Minot’s Ledge HL-131 $212.55
Comes with original Castle Studios box, tent card and certificate of authenticity. Extremely low number of 92 and even has the Canadian Sticker. This went too low for a two-digit green water.

4. 123 MICHIGAN CITY, IN. $212.50
Never displayed. Comes with original box and C.O.A.
Has made in Canada Sticker & signed by Bill Younger. Lighthouse is in excellent condition and its Number is 572. This is the green water over gray version. $200-$250 seems to be the going price for green water Michigan Cities.

5. PONCE DE LEON, FL- RETIRED - #132 $194.50
Comes in Original Box with Certificate of Authenticity. Piece has never been displayed and its number is 1051. This is about the same price I paid for mine in 1997.

6. Anchor Bay Series Light Vessel Huron #103 $170
This went for retail. One of my favorite Anchor Bays and again we can see the Christmas buying season taking affect.

7. HARBOUR LIGHTS SOUTHEAST BLOCK ISLAND, RI - #128. $144.50 Flag number 4437. In MINT condition, has never been on display. Comes in Original Box with Certificate of Authenticity. The only Harbour Light with out a sea Horse. Or is it under the boat like Bill always said. Has anyone ever taken the boat off and checked?

8. Tybee Limited Edition $115.15
Mint in box. Probably going price. I think it should go for $150.
The Tybee was going for $150 in 1997 then the restoration started on the real lighthouse. The Pattern was changed and a ceremony was held. The Younger family had a raffle for their number 10 and the excitement for the Tybee L.E. heightened. The L.E. at that time climbed to its peak of $300

9. BURROWS ISLAND, WA- RETIRED - #108 $114

Number 1148. The number most likely indicates that it is a Malaysian Made. Seller claims it to be in excellent shape and never displayed. But look at it. It looks like somebody drug it over sand paper. In the owners defense it is possible that the figurine was painted in a high humidity environment and the paint did not adhere properly. Some of the Early Malaysian made Harbour Lights did have this problem. The most common one with this problem is the Portland Head.

10. NAVESINK/TWIN LIGHTS, NJ #200 $112.51
Flag number is #1183. In MINT condition, has never been on display. Comes in Original Box with Certificate of Authenticity. It started with a $1 bid and had 23 bids.
This jumps between $100 and its retail price of $250

Only Harbour Lights without a seahorse...

HL128 Southeast Block Island Finally Found - by Carolyn Carbone. The illusive aquatic equine is on the bow of the boat as it faces the lighthouse. Look down from above to see it. And THEY said there wasn't one!

John, don't you think it's about time to update the Seahorse page? Looks like the last update was 4 years ago.

You beat me to it, Eric. I was going to mention the same thing. Thanks for asking. My major problem apparently is that I can't seem to find the dang thing even when I know where it is.

Daniel,

I look forward to your analysis of the EBay auctions of Harbour Lights. It sort of puts things into perspective. Please don't stop.

I would like to see how the rest of the items average out. I just went through most of them and saw several limited edition lights opening bid of $1.00 and they have been there for some time. Doesn't look very good to me.

It was the green water Michigan City! It was one of those, "When it rains, it pours", things. Last week I actually purchased and now have in my collection all four green water pieces. I've tried for quite some time to add Michigan City, New London Ledge, Barnegat, and Minot's Ledge green water pieces to my collection and now they all came in during a seven day period. Needless to say, my wallet took a big hit but I'm still smiling!

Christmas or no Christmas, it's nice to see the prices coming up a little bit, closer to where they SHOULD be!

I was watching the St Augustine auction and bidding on the Ponce auction. I was surprised to see them go that high. I have the new St Augustine event piece and hope that it's value goes up as quickly as the original!

Navasink was just advertised for sale right here in The New Marketplace for the incredible price of $25! But then this is the NY version! wink
