I am wondering if any one can advise of the value of my Harbour Light, Statue of Liberty,Liberty Enlighting the World,Over 9 inches tall, the large one that has been retired. The number is 627. My house cleaning company broke my Statue of Liberty and I need to turn in the value of it to the company. I paid $125.I am wondering if the value is greater than this. Any help would be much appreciated. Joan

Joan,
My best advice is to take the $125 and run. There are currently 2 Liberties on EBay:
$8.68 with 1 bid $15.50 with 3 bids
There are still four days left on the bidding, but you now have the ability to claim the total amount paid. Grab It. Sorry I couldn't give you better news.

The low bids kind of surprise me. This light appealed to such a broad audience, and it cleared off dealer's shelves fairly quickly (even at a high price). We were trying to find one back before Christmas and had a difficult time before we located one. Sounds this could work out for Joan in the long run if she can pick up a replacement at a discount.

I would turn in its value as $125 plus tax. That is what you paid for it and thats what it would cost to buy it brand new from a dealer.
Now if you want to replace it they are going for $45 to $57 on ebay.

I don't believe the SOL is bringing a premium price at this time. Take the $125 if you can get it. Bob

Maybe I should hire someone to clean the curios and "accidently" break the HL's. Then I could collect on the insurance for the retail value and replace the ones I really want at a fraction of the cost. With the money left over I could pay the cleaner and have room to pick up some of the newer pieces!

I would dread any damage to any of my HL's whether they are my favorites or not.
I continue on autoship which means I still buy them all whether I really like them or not. I think the wise collectors are actually those who just buy what they like. It keeps their collections at a more manageable size.
 Bob
