It's supply and demand Larry. If someone want's to complete a collection that bad they'll pay it. I know that's to rich for my blood.

A few years ago it was selling for over $2000. With just over 1000 pieces available, this price is not really out of line! I myself would not pay that much, but then again I got mine back in 1993 for $60.00!!!

(I was offered $2000 for mine in 1997. I did not sell!)

I remember getting an email from a buddy in California telling me to check out one of our Internet buddy's bid on a Coquille River LE on eBay. This was a considerable time ago (maybe 2 years?). I forgot what was the exact bid at the time but I know it was more than $1200. I emailed that friend and kiddingly mentioned that was a lot of money to spend on a HL. I remember his reply was something like it was his only chance to get it for such a reasonable price.

Therefore, if you need HL 111 to complete your collection, I guess you had better be ready to pay the price. I know that type of pricing scares me away. A good man has to know his limitations.

I may lose my "Wacko" status for saying this...but I can think of alot of other things that are more practical that I could spend $2000 on at this point in my life Hmmm...but I did just commit over $1400 for the reunion reservations, didn't I? Maybe I'm still a wacko after all!!!

Doc... are you in denial? You should know that admittance is the first stage of recovery. Like you, I can think of other things to spend 2k on. Besides, Jackie would kill me (if that isn't enough of a deterrence in itself!)

Larry,

The LE of Coquille River, as orginally released by Harbour Lights, was inaccurate. It showed the building with only six sides, not the eight that it really has. When the error was brought to HLs attention, they immediately stopped production. Only 1,138 of a planned 5,500 ever made it into the market.

So the value is based, in part, on the rarity and the inaccuracy of the edition. As others have said in reply to your question, if a collector wants a 'complete' collection, it can't be had without HL-111.

Hope this helps.

Rick

I can understand a little about it but I need a lot of others so I'll spend that kind of $ and get 15-20 others that I still want and when I win a million then I'll buy all the pricey ones
thanks for your input

A few years ago (like pre-San Diego reunion), while in process of remodeling/adding a sunroom to our home, my husband asked me whether I really liked my Coquille (it was a birthday present) or would like a hot tub..........i must confess that I chose the HOT TUB and we sold the Coquille River. We're still enjoying the hot tub; I hope whomever got the Coquille River enjoys it as much on these cool fall nights!

HLs are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Coquille River LE is the only piece I'm missing in my collection (I consider my CH-2 covering me for HL 102. I'll never buy a CH-1 re price). I could never justify spending the kind of money that HL 111 is bringing. Therefore, my collection will never be complete because of that fact.

If somehow I won a large sum of money in the lottery I would consider it but we all know that is not likely to happen since you would have to buy a lottery ticket and I don't do that too often. Do you know what the definiton of the State Lottery is? It's a tax for people who are bad at math.

Maybe a Coquille River LE will show up at a future reunion as one of the prizes in a charity raffle. If this happens I'll be sure to buy a ticket and any other ticket that's available from people who care not to participate.

The following email I received may be of interest to those of you depending on a winning lottery ticket to finance the purchase of Coquille?

Dear State Lottery Commission,

I know I chose the winning numbers for Wednesday's Lotto drawing.

But upon further review, it appears the incorrect numbers appeared on my
ticket. How could this happen? The root cause of this dilemma is the
form I filled out to get my ticket. The form is very confusing. I
thought I was choosing one set of numbers, (the winning numbers), when
in
reality I chose a completely different set of numbers. The numbers and
boxes on the form are so close together, it's impossible to determine
which box to fill in for which number.

I checked with at least 3,000 other people, and they all had the exact
same problem. I'm sure if you review the form I filled out, it will
become very clear that I'm entitled to the money from Wednesday's
drawing.

Please reply with the date, time, and location, for me to collect the
winnings due to me.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
