There was a post here about a month ago about what makes someone finally register and go from that "viewing stage" if you get my drift.

I've been here for about 2 years - really!! My wife and I have a nice little collection of HL's that continues to grow - very fondly I might add. HL's only? Well, no, but that is another email (hey, I've already achieved wacko status off-line, now I have to earn it!!). So why now? Your FSB area and the recent postings there (almost jumped into that, but....).

I also learned something today about navigation - the topic was particularly related to the Chesapeake Bay as I'm pretty close to that area. I was in turn able to add some insight about the local lighthouses and thought to myself - "I remember this from reading on or going to a link off HL"

Welcome aboard Andy.I'm glad I am not the only one that collects some other than just HL's but when HL does put one out I usualy upgrade my others and my Grandson gets the other.The way I look at my collection is they are not just replicas but bits of history and I am quite fussy about them.

Hi Andy and welcome aboard! It's great to see that you have gone from the "viewing stage" to the posting stage. I had to laugh a bit regarding your comment about the FSB. Yes, we can get into some rather spirited debates, but hopefully nothing becomes personal. Often times, e-mails are sent behind the scenes to reassure that!

We have a great time in the Forums. Many friendships have developed as there are some wonderful collectors here. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you for responses! There have been several occasions that I wanted to add something to a thread - a comment - here and there. But, oh, have to register, well I'll get it next time. Well, ah, signing up takes about what, 2 minutes? LOL!

Not sure why I didn't do it sooner, but I have always been impressed by the enthusiasm here for one, the structure of this site's layout, and it's Internet Links, among many other virtues.

My work associate that I recommended this site to last week (more specifically to the lighthouse links) was amazed there is an industry surrounding "lighthouse collectibles".

It was a positive amazement by the way - just the level of detail and the history. And I responded a resounding "yes" when asked if I had purchased any of these collectibles. I didn't add the point about purchasing two rather large curio cabinets so they would have a home.

I think Bill (oseabee) hits it squarely for myself and my wife - there may be a non-HL in the curio (no we'll not mention names), but it has to be there until HL produces their version. However, ours gets dumped into the bottom of the curio or in to the closet when upgrade time comes!

The rule here is "we cannot collect it until we see it". Needless to say, we have a tendency to travel a bit. I am now in the planning stages of our next expeditions!

Welcome, Andy. Its a good thing you registered and posted in this forum 'cause John was talking about putting BobM on probation for not generating any business in his forum. So, not only have you taken the big step to become an active participant, you have saved Bob's Cruise Directorship (tic)!

I have really enjoyed reading the exchanges (and participating in some) in these forums. They are representative of a much higher level of intelligence, consideration, helpfulness, et cetera, than you find in most on-line exchanges - not to mention the humor! Enjoy!

Welcome to the Forums, Andy. Glad you decided to officially join. We all seem "wacko" at heart over lighthouses; but now you will have a chance to post and become a real wacko. I hope you will keep a close eye on the General Forum for some breaking news about the 2002 Wacko pin preservation project. The committee isn't quite ready to put the details out yet, as we are waiting for the 2001 pin to arrive and be mailed out. Hopefully very soon. But then you and all other newbies and wackos can join in for some "serious" fun. Stay tuned.
