After watching the forums for about a year I finally decided to join up. Although I grew up in the shadows of the Outer Banks of NC I now live in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I'm semi-retired (my wife supports me) so I get to travel every now and then without the family (2 kids). I use this time to visit lighthouses, usually near relatives or friends. My wife and I are both Air Force retirees, she's a Texan, oh well. Anyway, I like the history associated with lighthouses, their uniqueness of architecture, and pure beauty. And, I take lots of pictures. By the way, hiking to some of them can be fun and healthy. I'm not a great photographer but I did learn the secret of great photograhy - take a lot of pictures, you'll get a good one every now and then. Looking forward to the interchange.

Welcome Bob,

Glad to have you onboard the forums. Lots of nice people here, which I'm sure you already know that having watched us for a year. Nice to see you have finally taken the plunge. Looking forward to your posts and what you have to say about lighthouses. As for taking pictures, you're right, take a lot and get rid of the junk.

Welcome Bob,

If you need to know something about lighthouses, sombody here knows about it. I was told once that I should take a photography class, it wouldn't "garontee" a good picture but it would improve the odds wink .

Welcome to the forums Bob from another Coloradian transplant, originally from Hampton VA smile

The folks here are very friendly, and I would say could more than likely answer any lighthouse question you might have!

Hi Bob,

Welcome from Meeeechegan. You're right about photography ...... I was told by a professional photographer that the pro "takes a lot of photos and throws away the bad ones!" wink

Enjoy the Forums .... hope to hear from you often.

PS: Do you get much snow where you're at?? frown
