Lou,

For at least a partial answer to that question got to the Forum Fog Signal Building.

Here's a link

I'm happy you kids were able to find us. Believe me when I say we're not trying to hide. Hopefully, other folks will be able to locate us too.

Moral of the story is to be sure you bookmark the Collectors Forums so that you can easily find your way back . . . .

I thought I was going crazy too...
I have been on vacation for a couple of weeks and could not find the forums when I finally got back on line.
I remember getting an e-mail about this, but it got lost in my brain along with 1,000,000 messages in my box while I was away!
Glad to find you guys again...

Count me in as another lost soul. Came back from vacation early August. Our son had crashed the computer. Lost all our programs. Computer guy said it was a virus he introduced. Anyway got a new hard drive with re-loaded programs.

Lost favorite places, I quickly pulled up Harbour Lights site to access the Forums. Thought I was going crazy! Finally found it by doing a search for Harbour Lights & Collectors Forums.

So sometimes even when places are bookmarked they can be hard to find again. Still haven't found all my old favorites.

You're absolutely right, Randy. I would think this decision would also have an effect on the visits to www.harbourlights.com. I use to use the HL website to access the forums. I would always take a look around to see what was new at the site before clicking on "Collector Forums". Now I just type in www.lighthousekeepers.com when I'm away from my home computer.

Maybe some day things will change back to the old way.

It appears by the number of visitors each day that quite a few people have this forum bookmarked. I think in the last 10 hours the number of visitors is over 300. I don't know how that compares with before the link was removed, but, it seems like quite a few people to me.

It would be interesting to see the numbers on how many people visit the official website. I know for myself, I have only been there a few times and that was to look at the lighthouse links. I guess I will have to bookmark that too!

Echoing Randy's question, it would be intersting to know how many other lost souls are out there casting about trying to figure out where the forums went. At the same time, I wouldn't be in the least surprised to learn that visits to the HarbourLights website are down as a result of their rather absurd (IMO at any rate) decision to remove the link to the Collector's Forums from their website. I for one haven't been back since that action was taken. Hopefully somebody at Harbour Lights will rediscover their common sense and will re-establish the link to the CF on their website.

I, too, had thought I lost my mind when I went to the HL website and the forums were gone. I had to email Chuck to get the link. Had I not joined the forums several months ago, I would never even know these existed. I think that all those new lighthouse lovers who are visiting HL for the first time are missing out on what I personally feel is the most informative, interesting part of the website - these forums. Yes, I can use the site to get info on many things, but not the interactive and insightful info I've gotten from all of you. Also, I have met some truly WONDERFUL people, both online and in person, via these forums. I understand that HL is a business and I'm sure the decision was not something they did without a lot of thought. I hope they can come to a compromise that will serve both their dealers and their loyal collectors. As a member of a newly forming organization (Houston Lightkeepers), I think this is a real disservice to anyone in our area, and any other area for that matter, who may be looking for others who love lighthouses as much as they do and want to get involved in preservation. I know that all the collector societies' info is still on the sight, but I just think that we will still be missing out on some new people who won't be able to access the forums easily and not realize what a dedicated and fun group we all are. laugh
